Melatonin suggested dose 3mg. What if I take 6mg?

I was taking alteril which has 4mg per tab, everything was fine for 2 weeks, then i began to have THE WORST NIGHTMARES I HAVE EVER HAD. I WOULD WAKE UP WITH MIND RACING AND ANXIETY OVERLOAD.

I quit taking alteril and 2 days later I was fine.

I usually take 9 mg if I have to go to sleep early. The only problem I have ever had is a random slight headache the next morning. I only take it about once a week, though.

Yes, you'll b fine. Might get some better sleep out of it. Plus it's actually healthy for you. Strengthens the immune system and is anti cancerous.

i took 12 mg one time and it did jack for me.. it was hard to wake up and it didn't put me to sleep faster.... if your body runs real good the 6 will just put you down a little faster and may give you a better sleep

Nah...I've used it occasionally and was pleasantly surprised that it actually worked.

I'm a frequent user here recently have had sleeping problems due to a certain habit. they always put the mg dosage at way too low...i have Nature Made Sleep Aid...its awesome...2.5 per capsule I usually take 2-3 and im off to dream land and wake up fine the next day...no man boobs here either so yeah go pick em up at a health food store i think walgreens even has them.

shouldn't take too much of anything,good rule is to take the lowest possible to achieve the desired results if 3 works 6 won't work better,melatonin does work though to help you get drowsy and fall asleep,personally .75(quarter of 3mg)works if I need it,sleep problems can be caused by metbolic syndrome amongst other thing(endocrine)your body has to metabolise alot of different proteins to support body functions including brain functions can cause alot of problems if you are not,diet is important.

taking more than 5mg, in my experience, causes restless sleep. it makes you feel like you are awake the entire night. melatonin has a very low toxicity, taking 100mg wouldn't do anything to you.

I've taken 6mg many nights. Never had a problem.

i took 6mgs last night. im still alive and well.
my dreams do tend to be much more vivid on melatonin but so far no nightmares.

6 mg restless night sleep, very tired and sleepy the next day.

It's not dangerous. Insomnia sufferers are given 9 mil a night. I've tried 6 and 9 mils and it wasn't much different than 3 mils. It does leave me a little tired the next day, so I don't take it on the night before I have to do a lot.

Just like with ALL medications effects vary with the individual. Try it and see. If it fucks you up you know not to do it again.

I use to give my mom (alzheimer's) 18 mg in order for her to sleep through the night but be able to get up to go to the bathroom if she needed to and not be groggy the next day. Any less than that, or if I gave her the pills (crushed) instead of capsules and she'd be up half the night.

That's what it took for her. I think everyone is different.

Melantonin is sometimes needed yes but will cause daytime droziness as well as depression in some people.

I have read the more you take the less it works. I would stick to the lower dose.

I take 10 mg. Hell, they make melatonin in 5 mg.

A friend used to take close to 100 mg a day, diurnally, with other related tryptamines...and very little behavioral effect was noticed.

Take as much as you like, just don't expect much more than a slight propensity for sleepiness.

I've taken 3x the recommended dose, it did nothing. In fact, it made it had the opposite effect and made me kind of restless. You know when you're tired, but can't help but just toss and turn. That's what it does for me if I take too much. Definitely not dangerous though, so don't worry about it.
