I roke my pinkie toelast night- is it safe to stand on it and work?
Yesterday night I stubbed my right pinkie toe on a metal chair partwhile walking past it. It hurt but initialy didnīt seem that bad, so them I tried to move it and it still worked, but it crunched and grinded whan I moved it. It is twice as big as my left pinkie toe I have really small scrunched pinkies with almost no nail. Butit looks like it is at the right angle when I put weight on my foot. First it turned grey and purple, now after working all day at the factory(standing and walking with not many breaks) turned black and blue, and deep blood red in a collar around it even extending on top of my foot. It really hurt earlier, but I took some motrin and wore wide shoes and taped it to the other toe. Now he pain isnīt so bad 24 hours later, but I am scared to remove the tape cause it feels really vulnerable to being īusedī and hurt again. I also want a doctor to see it. I think I should have iced it and suspended it last night but I didnīt want to believe it was broken, until it changed color and became unusable. It wonīt fall off, will it? Or am I being a whiner? stars
Plus I am having congestion and getting over a cold, without antibiotics(taking echinacea, and waiting to see if the immune system can kick it; so far so good with gradual improvements every day), I went to work because I canīt afford to take off any more. meds scratching the only bone other than this I have broken is my nose(I know, cartilage), and I had to have a septoplasty because it whistled afterwards.

Been there and done that. Tape two toes together.

Yeah, been there done that too.
Keep it elevated if you can, a day or two off work would help but there isnīt much to done for a broken toe.

Go to an emergency room NOW. There could be an infection that could become gangrene. Want to lose your whole foot?

I was a volunteer in a hospital emergency room and the complications of what were simple injuries were sometimes very sad.

I have it elevated right now,and it really doesnīt hurt too much, just feels strange. By the end of the day i was numbed up a little, maybe from natural endorphins. As long as I donīt bear weight on the ourside of my foot like when you stretch to reach on your loes, or lose my balance and try to instinctively correct it. it is ok I am trying to be positive. I know I will be tired but I only have to work six more seven solid hour shifts until thanksgiving, split further by a weekend.

I WENT to work, and worked and people didnīt believe it was broken īcos i didnīt have to limp much.(I think a sprained ankle is worse, I just want to make sure it is really ok, you know, I intend to keep working) but I sling steel at a factory. I think all these upcoming holidays coming anyways are going to be the deciding factor.

All you can do is go easy on it. Itīll heal. Thereīs one knucke in it. Just wrap it up with a bandage and stay off it, like a sprained ankle.

Broke 3 in one day on 1 foot. My Rotti made me run into the base of a 55 gal fishtank, toes first, lol.

Yes, it is very much ok to stand, walk and work on them.

Iīve since rebroken 2 of them, catching my foot on the corner of a sectional couch. It hurts, but after about 2 weeks, its almost back to normal. However, I do have an overwhelming sensation to crack my toe-knuckles now.

Work sucks bad enough without a broken toe, so I really feel for you. Itīs got to hurt like hell to be on it all day. You really appreciate your body when something gets hurt or goes wrong. Amazing how much a toe matters.

Re: I roke my pinkie toelast night- is it safe to stand on it and work?
I know, Itīs like such a little thing, your pinkie toe. People seem to have widely varying opinions of what to do about it, but it seems as frivolous to most as saying īI broke a nailī. I have almost no nail on it, like a recessive toe, and it still matters so much. It is the same toe that previously I gashed open the area between it and needed four stiches inbetween these toes before.
