The Venus Transits 2011-2012

When Venus lies directly in front of the Sun and in line with Earth, the resonances of Venus are highly focused (emblazoned) upon the Earth--inspiring a new level of "intuitive awareness" to permeate Earth and spread in and through human consciousness. Before 2004, the last pair of transits of Venus were in December 1874 and December 1882. So nine months after Venus transited the sun, a direct conjunction of course, Krakatoa explodes and three months later so does Mt Augustine.

The first of a pair of transits of Venus this century took place on June 8, 2004, six months later on December 26th 2004 and the Sumatran undersea quake took place followed by a tsunami killing 230,000 people. Seven months later, in July 2005, St Augustine began its current eruption. The next in this pair of transits will be on June 6, 2012, it's that year again, any bets that St Augustine is preparing to stage a rerun of 1883? And is Mt Merapi on Java about to become the next Krakatoa?

There is no evidence that any of these cultures knew of the transits. Venus was important to ancient American civilizations, in particular for the Maya, who called it Noh Ek, "the Great Star" or Xux Ek, "the Wasp Star";[9] they embodied Venus in the form of the god Kukulkán (also known as or related to Gukumatz and Quetzalcoatl in other parts of Mexico)

Another important calendar for the Maya was the Venus cycle. The Maya kings had skilled astronomers who could calculate the Venus cycle with great accuracy. There are six pages in the Postclassic Dresden Codex devoted to the accurate calculation of the heliacal rising of Venus. The Maya were able to achieve such accuracy by careful observation over many years. Venus was often referred to as both "The Morning Star" and "The Evening Star" because of its visibility during both times. This makes Venus unique. There are various theories as to why the Venus cycle was especially important for the Maya. Across Mesoamerica, Venus was often depicted as "defeating" the Sun and the Moon, perhaps because of its persistent visibility after transitions from day-into-night (and vice-versa). Most scholars agree that Venus was associated with war and that the Maya used it to divine good times (called electional astrology) for their coronations and wars. Maya rulers planned for wars to begin when Venus rose.


It was during this transit that Cortez invaded and conquered Mexico. The Aztec priests predicted this period would be fraught with danger and this is why Montezuma failed to meet the challenge the Conquistadors posed.

At around 1 min 33 secs it says 2012 is the end of the Long Count and the arrival of a new sun ??

Good video thanks, didn't watch all of it but marked for later. I find the Mayan culture quite fascinating. Yet these people have been brutally eploited and abused. Very sad/

The whole 2012 thing will go down as one of the most successful marketing strategies ever devised... Keep buying the "Crisis gardens and 2012 books". I heard some street bum the other day that 2022 is the dawn of a new era and the great king kong is returning from the jungle to create balance in the force.
