Re: Engineer sent Obama his resume, still unemployed
Really? This is supposed to be Obama's fault? How many unemployed folks are even getting a email/call back after putting in an application? This guy had all the people calling HIM to seek HIM out for work! When is the last time you got a call out of the blue from a company interested in you? This guy had a better shot that probably 95 percent of folks looking for work in any field. It wasn't like he couldn't get a job, sounds like he turned down jobs because he wasn't willing to move a little ways. I understand the child dispute but again, how is this Obama's fault? Did people expect Obama to build an engineering firm across the street from this man to give this one Man a job? Not to mention this man has been out of work for two years? I understand he is an engineer but is he to good to find a job in the mean time? TWO YEARS, NO JOB, EVEN PASSED ON A FEW JOBS, why should anyone feel sorry for him or even place blame on the President. I don't care if Bush, Clinton, Bush, or Obama is president, this man had a better chance that anyone.

FORT WORTH — More than two months after President Barack Obama asked for Darin Wedel's résumé, the phone is quiet, e-mails are no longer flooding in and the long-sought-after job interviews -- which had begun to be scheduled -- have petered out.

"Not even recruiting companies are calling anymore," said Jennifer Wedel, the Fort Worth mother of two who chatted online this year with Obama about her out-of-work husband.

And this guy was dumb enough to send Obama his resume thinking something was actually going to come of it? How naive can you be? No wonder no one's hiring him, he's not too bright!!

Judges orders, in divorce/custody situations at least, are what both parties agree to. Unless one party is an unfit parent which in this case is not the case since the unemployed guy has one kid from his previous marriage and his ex-wife has the other. If either parent were unfit then one parent would have both kids. At least that is how it works in Texas where this guy lives. Judges only get involved in deciding decree and/or custody issues (if both parents are fit) if the parties can't agree. When I got a divorce (in Texas) the only time I ever saw the Judge was when I went to court the day the divorce was finalized. My ex didnt even show up that day even though my ex is the one who filed. We were not keen on the idea of giving lawyers tons of our money so we agreed to all the terms of our divorce in mediation. The Judge had zero say in the terms of our orders (aka decree) since we agreed to all the terms in medication. All the Judge did was sign the decree to make the divorce final.

Re: Engineer sent Obama his resume, still unemployed
if you have the skills and little to no experience, working with a recruiting agency/placement firm on some short term contracts isn't hard

IF you have the skills and the experience, and don't have a bad rep...getting a job isn't that damned hard

you may have to move the goalposts as far as location or salary, but the opportunities are there

I don't know the details, neither do you, but I suspect a lot of those interviews were for show, to demonstrate that the company was trying to hire Americans.

That sort of thing happens a lot these days. For those not in such job markets, it's something you've never experienced. Welcome to having the whole world competing for your job -- with foreigners actually having an advantage because the company would rather have an H1B who depends on the job for his/her visa status, than an "independent" American.

He OBVIOUSLY does not resemble in any way what Obama's son would look like...and therefore doesn't deserve help.

They are all that way unless one parent is unfit or unless both parties don't agree to everything. A geographic restriction is standard in Texas divorce decrees but it is not required and you can ask to have it removed like I did. The Judge doesn't get involved unless the other party wants the geographic restriction in the decree. This guy could go back to court and have his decree modified to remove the geographic restriction since he has been unemployed for 3 years and was offered a job if he will relocate. It's very likely that the Judge will side will him and it won't matter what his ex wants.

True. Just like single people... damaged goods. If they were so desirable they'd have a spouse.
