What happen when African Americans begin to stand their ground. I wonder if the symbol of law will continue to wear a blindfold. Quite possibly there is a threat or a reason for African American men to be threaten in the area of the shooting and now in other areas of the country. May be we should apply the law as well, since the definition of threat is left up to the discretion of the living shooter! So you say and the system says that George Zimmerman has every right to kill this child; then George Jefferson may have rights to make the same decision in regards to your children who hold dangerous weapons like skittles. The sugar content in that candy is abysmal. I believe that African Americans should abide by the law....since they too can stand their ground! Just make sure you join the neighborhood watch. African American men have suffered Economic bullets, Justice System Bullets, Penal System Bullets, Education Bullets, Employment Bullets and now an physical bullets. What happens now......!

The chain of events could have been changed with one action. Zimmerman was protecting his neighborhood, which had been recently burglarized by others fitting the description on Trayvon. Before Zimmerman acted and approached Trayvon, he kept him under surveilence as is his position in neighborhood watch. Hence the "watch" portion of the title.

After he reported the activities and suspicious behavior to authorities, he then approached Trayvon to ask his reason for being in the gated community. This is where it all could've been avoided. Instead of telling the smaller, shorter man-who is INSIDE the GATED community-who he was and why he was there, he lashed out at Zimmerman. Why? Anger, frustration, intoxication on drugs, following his peers and their attitude, Rap mentality, or was he raised to have this reaction to anyone who approaches him? Why are people defending Trayvon's reaction? He was inside a gated community, his threat level was nil, so there was no need to be that physically violent to anyone asking questions. If Zimmerman was black, would Trayvon have shot him?

This is what is disturbing to me. Was he taught to attack anyone who isn't black, who may appear to have authority? I see this behavior occationally with the customers where I work. Unfortunately for them, any sort of verbal or physically threatening behavior gets them immediately removed and usually arrested. (I work for the airlines) But the fact that they know that aggressive behavior is a federal offense and still do is disturbing to me. I am not saying "blacks" I am saying it is a sector of the population with the "gangster rap" mentality.
