Quoting: Anonymous Coward 13141461 I would like to see how well you get along in life going days on end with ZERO sleep and massive panic attacks. I would much rather be dependent on a pill that allows me to sleep and be normal than go through life "clean" but absolutely fucking insane and miserable. |

Don't rely on Xanax. Mint tea with kava will do just fine. Can't tell ya how many "natural" remedies I have tried. Including mint tea with kava. Valerian root. Melatonin (not really "natural" as it is a synthetic hormone. I could go on and on. Anyone with serious insomnia and anxiety disorder knows that natural or over the counter remedies only work on people who think they have serious sleep issues. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 12498912 United States 04/09/2012 04:58 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have really bad insomnia caused by anxiety. I was prescribe Xanax 3 years ago and it was a miracle drug for me. After a while I needed it less and stopped taking it all together. Recent stress has brought my panic and insomnia back with a vengance. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 11033960 I go to doctors and tell them Xanax is all that works for me. They try to TELL me Im depressed and stick me on anti-depressants. They try to tell me they no longer prescribe Xanax because of its potential for abuse. Last doc visit I was prescribed "Vistaril" (an anti hystamine) for sleep and just like I told the doctor, it didnt do a thing for me. It's like when you tell them you know what works for you and mention Xanax they immediatley consider you a drug seeker. So, since some people abuse it people that need it are turned away? What the fuck is that? Oh yes. This is a system that is set up to make the patient be the dummy. You don't know what is best for you> only the good doctor knows This is what is revolves around the Doctors EGO Step on the EGO and you get nothing |

It was actually caused by too much sudafed because I was trying to unblock my ear. But, anyway, until the sudafed was out of my system, the only thing that helped me was doing breathing exercises. Andrew Weil has some good ones. For 15 minutes, just breathe in to a count of 4 and breathe out to a count of 8. Whatever you do, I hope you find relief. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 14024591 Mexico 04/09/2012 05:48 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My sympathetic nervous system is shot and I too have tried everything I can get my hands on that is natural - acupuncture helps more than I can say (placebo or not I don't care) as does a combo of essential oils a friend of mine that is an osteopathic surgeon makes up for me. (Lavender, Wild Orange, Tangerine, Mandarin Red, Sandalwoods, Italian Bergamot) It aids in both sleep and anxiety though I understand the Xanax thing. I can't drink or take most basic cold medicine's ... everything seems to up my anxiety ... and yeah, they tried to put me on anti-depressants too; I wasn't depressed until I took those and quickly got off of them. Assuming you really have an anxiety issue, ignore the ignorant. It won't hurt to up your B vitamin intake preferably through diet and not supplements. |

Used low dose, they work great for anxiety based insomnia. I currently take 5mg of aripiprazole and it works wonders. Another that i have used is quetiapine. I don't like taking an AP, but my insomnia gets wicked bad, so its ultimately worth the trade off. |

He will think something is up or he will think he has a habit forming patient. You have to tell them your problems.. Most DR's don't like to prescribe control substances any longer, due to the newer laws and possible getting sued in civil court for over prescribing it. Good luck to you :xanax: Last Edited by Trample on 04/09/2012 06:02 PM |

Fortunately, I got a new psyche Dr. and I begged for something to relax. I am going through some things that have me so physically stress out, I can't relax enough to breath, to relax. I only asked for a weeks worth and she was fine with that. Hope you feel better. |

What the fuck is that? i totally agree.. i used to be a full on insomniac and nothing i mean nothing no matter how much i took would work.. but then a had a couple xanax and was out like a log for a while too.. even though you wake up feeling like shit it really helps insomniacs.. that being said iv also been around people who take it while smoking meth and shit and just lose it.. iv also over taken it and got into a bit of situations in the past in one instant and decided to never take that many while being and and about cause you end like in a dream but walking and if that dreams a nightmare you can get into a whole lot of shit and you wont remember a thing cause its lights out with xanax.. but for insomnia i totally agree that it is one of the best options cause iv been there and done that.. i also wanted some xanax or any benzo recently from my doctors for anxiety and low sleep yet they choose to prescribe me anti psychotics which make me more sick rather than give me what i know will help me.. there usual excuse is that 'benzo's are addictive.. yet they dont realize the anti psychotic crap they give me has also got withdrawal symptoms and the side effects are the worst of any other drug there is.. |

Anonymous User ID: 1063258 United States 04/09/2012 06:33 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Check with your pharmacist if Xanax is a 'controlled substance.' Some medicines are controlled prescribed, which means your doctor legally can only provide you with so much of that medicine for a certain period of time and it's registered in a database that all pharmacists have access to. Your prescriptions are registered. It's the law for the doctors and if they do prescribe, they have to have a really good explanation or they could end up loosing their license. |
