I don't wholly agree but the concept's thought-provoking. For years I've reckoned the "Ark" was much more than a boat, and if you go back to the Sumerian story you'll see that it was a kind of giant building made of reeds that was intended to see out the flood. Some have speculated it was actually a mountaintop shelter that could survive the flooding, hence the location atop Mt Arrarat. So if you stored all the creatures in DNA form, you could have a facility like the Global Seed Vault in Svalbard: [link to en.wikipedia.org] In the Book of Noah, the angels or Watchers take a keen interest in Noah's work, which isn't surprising since his appearance (white hair and fiery eyes) is so like theirs that his father thinks Noah is actually one of their offspring. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14137791 THIS IS EARTH! 1) your theory is nonsense 2) Why would Noah want to put all the animals on the earth to save them from the great deluge? Sounds stupid. Noah's Ark was a spaceship preserving all the DNA of the animals on earth. Thats why it was possible Just thinking.... Maybe the deluge was something you can't comprehend? Plasma |

And when he opened his eyes, he lighted up the whole house like the sun, and the whole house was very bright. 3. And thereupon he arose in the hands of the midwife, opened his mouth, and †conversed with† the Lord of righteousness. 4. And his father Lamech was afraid of him and fled, and came to his father Methuselah. 5. And he said unto him: 'I have begotten a strange son, diverse from and unlike man, and resembling the sons of the God of heaven; and his nature is different and he is not like us, and his eyes are as the rays of the sun, and his countenance is glorious. 6. And it seems to me that he is not sprung from me but from the angels, and I fear that in his days a wonder may be wrought on the earth." Quoting: Bent The thought of a boat holding all of earth's creatures X 2, is absurd. Please discuss. How do you know this? I don't know, I'm theorizing and everyone's heard of Noah at least in Western Culture. My main question is, why did the writers of this story try to make us believe that 2 of every creature could fit on a boat the size of the Titanic? |

Rosicrucian..I summon you to full recount of your posting! Apparently the Rosicrucian is telling us that all is an illusion and we are but a construct within the heavens above..then reflected, yet fragmented upon yet another image. We are the vessel. Just guessing, but interesting topic...so can't wait to read the answers. |

Yes, which is why I'm questioning the allegory. WHY was the allegory written? And by whom? Also, it could be just a usurpation of fact. A twist, a script flip to confuse us. |
