California seismologist: Earthquake swarm near Brawley will 'definitely last for days'The earthquake swarm shaking near Brawley will continue for days, a Cal Tech seismologist told The Desert Sun on Sunday. “It will definitely last for days. It’s possible it may last for weeks, but it’s unlikely,” Dr. Egill Hauksson said. “These things do happen. Some of them are smaller. These are sort of the bigger sized ones.” More than 200 quakes and aftershocks have struck so far at the same approximate epicenter, about 16 miles north of El Centro, according to preliminary reports from the U.S. Geological Survey. These kinds of swarms happen about twice a decade, said Hauksson, who has been a seismologist for about 30 years. The epicenter and magnitude usually stay roughly the same. It is about the Salton Sea - we will see if this does come true (raised the hair on the back of my neck when I read this): Vision There will be a large earthquake in Southern California on the portion of the San Andreas fault at the Southern portion of the Salton Sea.
The shore of the Salton Sea will subside about 30 feet on its Eastern shore, and this will cause a large wave of water to wash east from the Salton Basin against the mountain range immediately to the East of the Salton Sea. The Western shoreline of the sea will be higher than it once was, which will uncover some ancient Native-American artifacts on
the Western shoreline. **There will be a period of earthquake swarms on the Southern Shore of the Salton Sea before the large earthquake will come. ** There will be a large amount of hot mud boiling from the bottom of the sea, middle area immediately prior to the large earthquake.
