Gee, maybe that's why they had separate restaurants in the old days.

why is this crap pinned? just another racist black thread and the OP is lieing about his race putin
 Quoting: 12.21.12

I SWEAR I AM HALF BLACK. AND I SWEAR ON MY LIFE THAT THIS HAPPENS MAINLY BY BLACK PEOPLE. Yes, every single black person that comes through isn't difficult, but a biiiiiiiiiiig portion of them are. It has almost become predictable. I can lip sync what they are about to say next or ask for. It's kind of creepy.

tounge

I used to work at a Taco Bell as my first job at 17, in the Los Angeles area. The colored folk would be the ones to come in and not be satisfied with the portions, they'd always want their little enchirito or whatever it was super-sized for free, argh.

Last time I went back there (Hawthorne at the time), was to move my aunt out of the neighborhood, as she was the only white left for miles, and was not at all racist (had had some mixed raced relationships, etc. in the past), but she got tired of being burglarized, and the loud, ghetto music coming down the street all hours of the night, the sirens, the drugs, ugh. It was such a nice community when I was young, so quiet and it was mixed then, but now it was not mixed at all. We drove off down the street to get some fried chicken to feed the family who was all there to help her with the yard sale, and every 5 feet was a gang member type hanging out in front of one of the houses. We got to the fast food place, and one inch thick bullet proof plexiglass covered the entire counter, with a little turntable enclosed to exchange the money and food with the staff. That just spooked me and I could not WAIT to get out of there. Another thing I'd noticed when I'd go into local businesses as the years went by, was the people they now employed gave just plain crappy service, it was pathetic. They acted like you were lucky if they even stayed on the job and didn't walk off to go to a movie, forget about them acting like they were there to help you. I could not believe the lack of ethics and proper attitude on the job. I have never been and never will be racist, my kids are not 100% white, they are mixed race, and I just was not raised like that. I have always had friends of different cultures and colors. But this whole issue is really disturbing as I feel bad for the colored people who do care, do live right, and do try to obey the law and make something of themselves, getting bunched in with people who are acting like losers. Same thing with any race, really.

- Majority of white people order Coke/Diet Coke.

The rest of the drink options are a random toss up between the few that don't fit into the majority.

We also carry a few non-fountain drink options: Sweet tea and Un-sweet tea.

- Majority of black people who order tea order sweet tea. In fact, I can only recall two black people, in the time that I've worked there (and I always work drive-thru where the majority of the people come), order un-sweet tea.

- Majority of white people order Un-sweet tea. Although, there is more leeway within the white fast food test subjects in their selection between sweet or un-sweet tea.

Easiness of orders: (Despite the fact that anyone can be rather irritating)

- White people: Seem to be able to order more quickly and more precisely. Tend to say "Thank you" more often. Tend to complain less, and, if they do, they seem more reluctant as a sign of respect to not make a big deal of something petty. Although, are more likely to not come back if we forget a pretty obvious item; such as a drink with the combo. White people have a more pleasant ordering voice (and this makes a difference when you've had a slew of rude orders). I always feel more appreciation from white people compared to black people.

- Black people: Slow, slow, slow orderers! You may think that I'm racist but, after many encounters I have had in fast food, these are the conclusions I have made from the majority of orders I have taken. Sometimes I sense that they are intentionally taking their time just because they know they can. Also, they ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS change their order. Here is a typical conversation I have with them:
Black customer: "I'll have number.................................................................................Fo---Fi--NO! number 8 combo. WAIT. I'll just go ahead and get number 4 combo."
Me: "Alright, what size would you--"
Black customer: "NO! Scratch that. Keep the number 8 combo!"
Me: "O..ok. What size?"
Black customer: "Small."
Me:"What kind of drink would you like?"
Black customer: "Fruit punch"
Me:"Anything else?"
Black customer:" Um...................................................................................................................................... (1 minute later I hear them on the cell phone talking about something unrelated to ordering)......."
Me: "H-hello?"
Black customer: "Yeah that's it!
"Me: "Okay, your total comes to $7.56, thank you!"
Black customer:"$7.56?!?! Hell no, lemme just get your dollar menu chicken sandwhich and value fries, and that'll be all for me (they pull up without me even giving them their total)"

Black guys mumble too much. I'm constantly asking them to repeat themselves. When I ask them to repeat themselves they immediately assume I just said, "Fuck your mom!" and get all pissy. Other times, they won't even TRY to speak louder or more clearly. Then when their order comes out wrong they get pissed off. The women ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS have something wrong with their food. Our fries will have just came up and they'll honk their horn and say they want fresh fries. The meat doesn't taste right. Their soda doesn't taste right. Their fries are too salty. Their fries aren't salty enough. The sandwich bun doesn't taste right. Their chicken nugget are cold. Their chicken nuggets don't taste fresh enough. The list goes on. This goes on all night for 8 hrs, and by the time the night is over I'm ready to jump off of a cliff.

If they order a shitload of food, they will sit at the window and open every single sandwich and inspect it while there is a line of cars behind them. I rarely witness a white person complaining about their fries. Our fries are usually always fresh, so no wonder. It is like black people are never satisfied. If they order a flavored tea (that we make with un-sweet tea) they will complain that the tea isn't sweet enough.

This is only grazing the surface, if I told you everything you would be mentally worn.

What validates my experiences even more is that my manager, whom is a black man married to a black woman, agrees with me completely. He's a preacher and he's always talking about how difficult black people are. His famous line is, "Who's holding up the line? You already know!"

I never thought about it before, but you're right. And trust me I'm no racist.

When I pick a checkout queue at the supermarket there will be one with a white woman with a huge trolley full of shopping and one with black women (they never seem to shop alone) with a few things. I always go behind the white woman, because they're shopping will go through quickly with no hold-ups, packed, paid for and gone - the black women will cause a delay over one thing or another, changing an item for something else, taking forever to pay, arguing over something, then very very slowly packing their shopping and eventually strolling off. Always.

When I was in college in the 80s, it was like this even then. I used to work in the dorm cafeteria and there was a more demanding attitude by the African American students, as if they were getting back for the generations of stepping and fetching that their ancestors were forced to do, LOL.

Whether I worked the food serving area or the dishwasher tray return area, I noticed a cultural divide between the amount of special requests and dissatisfaction with taking the food as is, and I also noticed that the African American trays invariably were returned with a lot of wasted food, paper napkins shoved into glasses half full of liquid, and a general messiness that required a lot of extra cleanup before the tray could be put through the system. My coworkers and I all saw the same thing and used to joke about being able to predict the behavior

Re: I work in Fast Food. I've noticed differences between black people and white people who come through
I have the same thing in the game store I work at.

Black people tend to be a nuisance, and when complaining they act like they own the place.

Whites tend to be more reluctant in complaining, and act all friendly when doing so. Last time someone had a broken product and he was almost ashamed that he came back for a refund.

Blacks tend to come up to me, put something on the counter and instantly think I can read their minds. Oh and the constant haggling, they always want something for a lower price.

When something is broken they want full refund (which isn't a big deal) and they want a discount on the next product. When I say I can't do that they scream shout and stomp around the store.

Usually to great amusement of me, my collegues and other shoppers.

In holland gift certificates can expire if a certain date has been stamped upon them. Our gift certificates always have those dates. It used to be valid for half a year (which I found rediculous and always always cashed them even though they weren't valid anymore by a month or two (I never went over three months, just to stay out of trouble).

Whites tend to be all: Well, that was stupid of me, letting it expire! anything you can do for me, though? *puppyeyes*
To which I will look at the date, and again, if it's over 3 months I wont cash it, but otherwise I would.

Blacks... They only come in after it has expired for like 2, 3 days, and if not that, always over 6 months... Never in between, I never saw one come in with a 1 month old card... And before I can say anything at all they scream and shout.

It goes like this: Person smacks certificate on the counter, looks at me with arms crossed. As if they were my owners (I feel like I am their slave sometimes). They say, that it's illegal to stamp a date on certificates and that they can't expire. They insist I call my regional manager, whom when being a rookie just complied to their demands but nowadays stands up for me. and when that doesn't work, they camp the store. Complaining to al lthe costumers. Sometimes I have to call police to remove them from my store. Thankfully the majority leaves on their own accord though.

Also, the only time you see them is during the holiday season and when we have rediculously low offers.

Also, their kids...

White kids tend to act more mature and civilized. When they are with parents they almost never are a nuisance.

Black kids always run around the store, jump on everything and climb in statues of game-figures. They never listen to their parents and always act like they own their parents in stead of the other way around.

And before you think I am racist (which in a way we all are, wether you are black yellow or white, we all don't trust another ethnicity). I do date blacks, and yes I am white. a couple of my friends are black or arabic or even asian.

My most favorite coleague is of asian descent, and she agrees with me, as does on of her black coleagues.

I know my text is full of spelling errors, just woke up and can't be arsed to fix this :P

Ummmm...I hope you all are aware of the Bell Curve. Therein lies all the answers...
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9322299

I worked in a fine dining establishment in college and had pretty much the same experience. At least you don't have to depend on their non-existant tips to pay your bills, not that its makes it any less painful to be treated so disrespectfully all the time.

I now work for the airlines and will occasionally see the behavior. I say occasionally because I don't notice a large number of African Americans flying my airline. But if they're sleeping when do our beverage service, then wake up later to find everyone else has a drink but them I get accused of being racist. I always explain the policy of not waking sleeping passengers, but am ignored.

You hit on something with what you said about the way they order. One of the most irritating sounds to me is an African American woman saying "Ma'am! 'Scuse me! MA'AM!" It always has a rude edge to it and is followed by a complaint and demand for something additional or special treatment. And no matter what I'm doing at the time they expect me to drop everything and help them. I have a coworker that has been in the airline industry for 20 years, she's flown the world, a real class act with the passengers. She is African American and gets called racist as well. She never 'greases the squeaky wheel' and gives it right back to them. Of course I can't be that rude to them, being caucasian, but I have my own version. I always give them exactly what our service manual says they get and NOT ONE THING MORE. And I always think about what I say to them and how it would look on paper in a complaint. Another thing I do (when they really throw a hissy fit) is to make sure other neutral people can clearly hear what I've told them so that I have witnesses (and most are more than happy to help). This way my butt is always covered, I've done what is expected (and not a thing more) with a smile on my face and a calm voice at all times. I don't know how many times this has worked to my advantage. And especially if they escalate it to a point to where the authorities have been called. I always walk away from the situation with my dignity, which is what I suspect they were trying to take from me in the first place.thumbs

This isn't racist, this behavior is an inevitable side effect of growing up poor. Work at a drive thru where only poor whites live and it'll be similar if not worse. Everyone is so hypersensitive to race topics. Discussing observations about race and class isn't negative, its the only way we ever learn about each other to move past them. It's probaly more the levels of sociopathy you need to look at. You can get sociopaths (every molehill is a mountain, the tiniest social interaction is a WAR in which one must manipulate or humiliate the other person) in all the races.

Re: I work in Fast Food. I've noticed differences between black people and white people who come through
I worked at a Mickey-d's ages ago. When being trained, everybody warned me about a mythical discontinued beverage:

The Shamrock Shake.

You see, dear readers, McDonald's only offered this in a saint party's season over a decade before and yet...

Employees warn one another about it's legacy due to the fact that indeed, certain "folks", to that day still request it with unrivaled predictable rate of demand.

I believed this was a joke, a hazing for the new guy until, wouldn't you know, I got my first black customer.

"I'll have a mc-d-lt (also discontinued) some of this, some of that and...

You be gotten any of they... Shamrock shakes?"

It was surreal. I thought I was on candid camera. "a what?" I asked.

"a shamrock shake"

This happened with the routine of old faithful. It was unreal. A decade gone product still very much in demand with a cult like following of but one demographic. The rest of us had absolutely no idea what this was. An inside joke? A code word for "hook it up".

But on my life I swear: folks were desperate for this thing, whatever it was. Often pleaded with me to axe the manager.

Interesting. Messes are made by everyone equally at my job, unless you single out the Somalians. There are these Somalians that come through and when they leave you'd think dogs were out to eat. Chicken nuggets scattered all over the floor. Ketchup smeared all over the table. Chairs flipped upside down. You go out and you just stare at it for 5 minutes to let it process, "How is this possible?" LOL

Not a lot of blacks where I live, worst offenders are OAPs (senior citizens) and suburbans mums with strollers/brood.

Re: I work in Fast Food. I've noticed differences between black people and white people who come through
When I was in college in the 80s, it was like this even then.

The messes seemed to always be deliberate, a small way of showing defiant hostility, a challenge. "Now YOU clean up after ME" is the message I took from it.

Working in pizza delivery, I can confirm all of these behaviors. But it is definitely socio-economic and not cultural. If you live in a very poor white neighborhood, you will see all of this and more.

Very poor people and very wealthy people both act like this. Middle class people tend o be more polite and reasonable.

Re: I work in Fast Food. I've noticed differences between black people and white people who come through
I swear I'm not a raciest, I respect everyone equally (at first) and try not to pass quick judgements.

So it pains me to say that after years of fast food and server experience all of what OP says is 100% true. I've noticed all these and more in my time.

Ugh. We got a watermelon drink once as a new menu item at a place I was waiting tables. You can guess when most of that went.

'African Americans' also tend to come later and night and - oh this is terrible and I'm sorry - but MOST of them don't tip hardly anything... if that. That's after asking for a million things that are sometimes totally ridiculous. The only worse tips I get are from middle eastern men who won't even look me in the eyes and teens.

And please stop playing your nasty R&B music out loud on your phones, that goes for you teens too. It's rude.

They are also the WORST people to get hit on by. Getting whistled at is not something I look forward to when I get gas. Or my favorite, "Hey there *insert annoying 'compliment'*" As the look you up and down like a piece of meat. Gross. Really classy.

I dunno what happened because the older generation is much more polite and they don't seem like they learned English from urban dictionary. Between 9 and 15 is the WORST age for black boys. I've been called everything under the sun by black children trying too hard to emulate their parents. Once a gang (like 6) of black kids told me they would wait outside with their brother for me to get off work and 'beat my cunt ass up'. This was because I refused to return shoes (at Journeys shoe store) that had been worn out of the store. That was after he refunded some socks so he could get lunch. One of them even tried to spit on me. It was weird.

On the flip side white people have a ghetto version as well. They are called red necks. Usually smell, dirty clothes, leave mud under booths, have 8 children and leave a wake of destruction in their path. They are not to be confused with hill billies though - the less socially awkward and kinder of the white country folk. The tend to be louder and crack tons of odd jokes. They usually tip pretty good though. Old trucker guys are another white group. My least favorite. They are the most likely to touch you or say something NASTY and totally out of line. This is because most of them seem drunk as all hell. Usually come with their son or a male friend. If they are with women they treat them like shit on a shoe. Missing teeth tweeters. Gross gross gross. Not all, but like 75%.

Then their are the teens. They are rude, expect the world of you, leave unnecessary messes (torn up napkins, wads of paper they throw, salt of pepper EVERYWHERE, ect), and they will hardly ever leave a tip and sometimes will even tell you sorry that they don't have enough money to tip. But hey, the service was awesome so that's kinda a tip? Riggggght? So it was totally worth working for compliments.

Best customers are between 25-50, well groomed married couples that will have a chat with you. These couples are sometimes black people, but usually white. The women will have on jewelery that's not gaudy but not fake. If they have kids; the more kids the lesser the tip. Dressed professionally but not fancy.

Mexicans tip good sometimes. Usually they order some larger more costly meat dish. When they pay it's almost always cash and large bills, no change.

Old people almost always count out the correct amount to you, even change. Most the time your tip is change as well...

Middle-eastern, Asian, and white usually pay with a credit card.

European(like from Europe recently) people are few and far between but they usually tip well and are great for conversation. They tend to have a dry sense of humor and often times are happy perky people. This goes for Australians too.

The best advice I can give you though is... Don't EVER tell a black woman her weave looks pretty. I guess your not supposed to be able to tell it's a weave so it's actually an insult. Who knew?

Re: I work in Fast Food. I've noticed differences between black people and white people who come through
LOL

I really had a good laugh reading this. Thank you to many of the above posters.

I have to say...and I won't pull punches here, blacks, in general are just inferior creatures to whites. They are more akin to animals and as an entire race are much more agressive and less intelligent than whites which is a bad mix. Of course there are exceptions, as you will have highly intelligent black scientists and low class, abusive whites. But, overall, it is clear... blacks are nothing more than a worker race, completely disposable and akin to garbage.

With that said, to prove I'm not racist... most whites should also be exterminated as they are simply useless lifeforms.

Off topic: how about all those earthquakes worldwide on 04/11...? Simply beautiful that the human race will soon be extinct. Makes me so happy.

That's the beauty of monocultures, the clash of races thing doesn't enter into it, it's just the usual troublemakers.

Re: I work in Fast Food. I've noticed differences between black people and white people who come through
Ive worked in the customer service field for roughly 10 years, (bartender, at a major casino). I find it so hillarious when all the new cocktail waitresses I serve start off their job not racist at all. Usually within 3 months they hate all black people. Want shit for free, don't wanna put money in the machine, expect drinks the second they sit down, and want a free room or food if anything isnt done the way they want it. also like I said ive been doing this along time, so I know how to "handle" them, best service possible with no complaints. Guess what that usually earns me a big fat 0 tip. I say they need a rude awakening
