OH calm down, its just the repubs playing politics with the lives of the service men to help their failed president.

They are grandstanding to boost his stature.

dangerous for them perhaps.

could easily backfire.

People feed up with the BS politics that have been going on.

NEVER going to pass.

The Republican party is divided on this, the Democratic party is divided on this, and the President will never sign. Itīs merely symbolism.

Re: BREAKING** Tonight- Vote on Iraq Pullout
"Republicans placed many Democrats in a politically unappealing position — whether to side with Murtha and expose themselves to attacks from the White House and congressional Republicans, or whether to oppose him and risk angering the voters that polls show want an end to the conflict.

Murthaīs resolution would force the president to withdrawal the nearly 160,000 troops in Iraq "at the earliest predictable date.""

If itīs up to Bush to withdraw at the earliest predictable date, thatīs pretty wide open. The vote would mean nothing.

Now the dems are discussing hearings on C-Span. They are probably sweating bullets because of the unappealing position described above.

Re: BREAKING** Tonight- Vote on Iraq Pullout
It truly is a crossroads. We either must finish this fight or pullback. Finishing the fight will ultimately mean engaging yet more nations. By invading Iraq, the United States has ensured the struggle will include Iran and Syria eventually. The scope of this battle is far beyond what was needed to respond to 911. I think the Iraqi war has only led to more instability.

Playing games by trying to only half commit is only risking the lives of the men and women who serve unnecessarily. We are either at war all the way or we need to withdraw. We cannot continue to play games with this situation. As with all wars it seems the politicians never fully respect the ramifications of their decisions. Unfortunately, the decisions were made and here we are. We either are going to finish this fight, right or wrong, or we do need to get out come what may.

RECAP:

Resolution: "It is the sense of the House that deployment of U.S. forces in Iraq be terminated immediately."

The resolution does not reference any particular member.

Republicans want to change rules to vote on resolution the same day it is introduced.

As much as Ted Kennedy is hated he at least is a powerful Senator for the pull out, hurray. Lets have a showdown. Yes, the President will veto it if it passes for a pullout, then what?

Vetoīs can be over ridden. True it takes 2/3, but it can be done. If you believe it to be the right thing, this may be the last opportunity to stop what is coming next.

Re: BREAKING** Tonight- Vote on Iraq Pullout
This is not Murthaīs or any other Democratīs resolution. This is a Republican resolution (Hunter - I believe) which, IMHO, is designed to embarrass Murtha along with the Democratic Party & divide the House.

Wording of this resolution was changed from Murthaīs to call for "immediate" withdrawal - an almost impossible task.

Problem is, Elijah, is that thereīs no way to "finish" the fight! Who do you think we are "fighting" in Iraq? It ainīt just Al Zarqawi (sp) and the so called "Al Queda in Iraq"...we have the seeds of a major civil war brewing there. If it happens to break out while weīre still there, you ainīt seen NOTHING yet in terms of death.

Look at history, if the British couldnīt hold Iraq and we couldnīt beat a bunch of Rice Farmer commies in Vietnam, what can you expect?

Although this is a political ploy by the Republicans, designed to embarrass Murtha and the rest of the Democratic congresscritters, it wonīt hurt to send an email to your congresscritter and let him/her know we want our troops home NOW!

Not one more drop of blood for this sham war.

A pullout is NOT an option. That will cause even more troubles in the middle east. Itīs gonna take a long long time before Iraq is able to handle it all by them self.

Look at the many enemies the government already has, a civil war break out for sure if America pullout itīs troops.

we have done exactly OPPOSOITE what were told would happen...

after 911 we were all told this war would last a generation..guess the bum wasnt kidding...
