Something just went bezerk in the Gulf of Mexico, new oil spill reported

Shares in Shell (LON:RDSB) and BP (LON:BP.) were falling this morning over fears of a possible oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

This is so reckless and tragic. So what doesn't die of oil and gases will die of radiation poisoning? I can't even bring myself to eat fish anymore.

Not a new spill, what has happened is what we all told you would happen.

For thos that cant remember the orginal incident, the pressure on the well head was so massive they have huge amounts of difficulty in stemming the flow into the sea.

After they said that they had "plugged" the well head didnt stop being under pressure, what happened was that the pressure redirected and started comming from the sea bed around the well head. This kind of leak is pretty much unpluggable.

Now we all told people here on GLP that the plug could not last, and it would be just a matter of time before it started leaking again but we also said when it restarts it will be unstoppable.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Royal Dutch Shell says a sheen of oil, 10 square miles in size, has been spotted in the Gulf of Mexico.

Shell said late Wednesday that it reported the sheen to the National Response Center.

The sheen is one mile wide and ten miles long and is located in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico, between the Mars and Ursa drilling platforms, said Shell. The platforms are both located 130 miles southeast of New Orleans.

he also said that the oils field was iner-connected to huge reservses and there were flows of oil that connected way inland. i believe that would be real close to the new madrid fault line.

let hope this is not still releasing oil for all that.
