Bonus Doom:

At 1:30 in

Annie Gundersen, Fairewinds Associates: The Unit 3 fuel pool should also be a concern to policy makers.
At 11:00 in

Gundersen: Unit 3 is worse [than No. 4]. It’s mechanically its rubble, the pool is rubble. It’s got less fuel in it. It faces the same problem. Structurally the pool has been dramatically weakened. And, god nobody has even gotten near it yet.

Your Fear is based on a Tweet!

Our Friends at Tepco reported:
* At 2:44 pm on April 12, 2012, an alarm "excessive leaking flow amount from heat exchange unit" went off and the pumps of the system automatically stopped. As a result of site investigation on leakage from the system, the following events were confirmed. We will investigate their relevance with the automatic stop of cooling system of the spent fuel pool. The water temperature of the spent fuel pool was 28°C and the temperature rising rate was estimated at approx. 0.5 °C/h.

1.During checking leakage from the system, at around 3:04 pm on the same day, we confirmed that hydrazine was leaking at a rate of one drop per 7 seconds from a check-valve installed in the hydrazine injection pipes of the cooling system. We closed the check-valve and the leakage stopped. (We injected hydrazine from 1:35 pm to 2:56 on the same day.) The amount of leaked hydrazine below the check-valve was approx. 20 cc (approx. 10cm x 20 cm x 1 mm).

2.At 3:10 pm on the same day, at the east side of the 1 floor of Unit 4 Waste Treatment Building, we found water leaking at a rate of 1 drop per 2 seconds from the pipe flange of alternative cooling line for the spent fuel pool.

Afterwards, at around 3:55 pm on the same day, we retorqued the flange and confirmed that the leakage stopped.

We confirmed that the leakage was approx. 20 liters (approx. 1m x 2m x 1-2 cm) around the funnel near the flange.

The leaked hydrazine and water were only in the Waste Treatment Building and we confirmed no other leakage than these two places after the investigation.

Re: Fukushima: Reactor 4 Emergency in 10 hours?????
I don't think anyone is arguing about whether this started over a year ago or not.

I think people are concerned about the status of building 4, now. Well, not to mention the status of other buildings being wonky. Most MSM aren't repeating that "cold shutdown conditions" hogwash anymore, even they are more serious about it. But this big recent leak was all over the news. Ok, maybe not the Canadian news, but Harper has them by the throat on the nuclear topic, you should know that by now. The concern about this big leak has even been written up in several major US publications.

You question all those sources? Or have you just not bothered to look them up?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14204014

people are concerned about building 4 because the msm, and that includes enenews, gunderson, and everything else you see on any media, are being told to be concerned about building 4.

the truth is that given the amount of fuel reported to be in the spent fuel pool at the time, re-racked until it was over 'safe' capacity, following a station blackout and loss of cooling, it boiled off faster than you could make a cup of tea. last march.

GAME OVER

party on!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14260891

If it had done so, NOBODY in the US or Canada would ever get anything near to normal background readings on a geiger counter...ever. In Japan it would be... I don't even want to imagine.

We only got a taste last March. I DO NOT want the rest of the meal.

Reactor #4 is in the foreground of the video - still standing, but damaged.

Damaged and listing from the quake, tsunami and explosion from Reactor #3.

If #4 collapses:
1. 1535 spent fuel rods in cooling pool from #4 fully exposed.

2. Entire complex contaminated.

3. 6375 (nearly 2000 tons of) spent fuel rods in the common pool located 50 meters from Reactor #4 would be affected.

Number 3 above would be the unmitigated disaster that would preclude all methods of containment and lead to the eventual evacuation of Tokyo and significant local and regional nuclear contamination for many years to come.

Everyone here remember when they told us nuclear power was safe?

Wow... just... wow...

Eisenhower pushed nuclear power on us for the sole purpose of creating a nuclear arsenal.

You gotta be born stupid to still be believing propaganda from decades ago.

It's NOT profitable, it's NOT worth it, and at this point the only reason it's around is because the politicians are paid to allow it.

"According to the Press Releases everything is OK",
Fuku-Diary is a Blog who generate Money by Doom
and i give nothing on a Tweet like many People here
give nothing on a Press Release from Tepco!

But please let me tell you that they change the Temperature
through the Water Flow,
when it get hot they increase the Water
Supply and add some Chemos and the Temp will stop
to increase!

The Pool get hot when there is no Water exchange
but in that case they would use a outside Source
and add Water like we saw it in the beginning
(Via the Cement Pump or Fire Truck)

180 tons of material at Chernobyl

they had to use/sacrifice (depends on your point of view)

estimates vary between 650,000 - 1,000,000 people to deal with that accident.

no, the numbers aren't wrong. 650,000+ people to clean up

they called them liquidators

Though Tepco stopped the water leakage, coolant system is still not back on. At the moment, they can’t estimate when they can recover it. Also, they estimated the temperature increases at 0.5C/h, it’s increasing at over 1C/h. It went up by 22C within 18 hours. Currently the temperature of SFP is 55C.(10:00 JST) The safety limit is 65C. At this pace, it will reach 65℃ about in 10 hours.

Tell me, Atom-Boy, how do you think being an illegal refugee getting a few dollars in donations to survive off of compares with the money made by the nuclear industry...What do you think, what would that ratio be? On some days, people donate $70. I think those are the better days, and people get bored of giving to any charity, so it won't last long, but let's assume it's an average and he's going to get that for a full year like a salary. What's your guess, how much does just the CEO of TEPCO bring home in a day? And how about you, how much do you make per day?

Earthquakes in the neighborhood of level-5 on the seismic intensity scale continue to occur even now in the Tohoku and Kanto regions. We cannot accept the absurd condescension of those who fear the worse-case scenario, labeling them as “overreacting.” We have no time to humor the senseless thinking that instead, those who downplay the risks for the sake of economic growth are “realistic.”

I look at it like this. I havn't seen any pictures of Fukashima in the last month or two but the last pictures I've seen the place looks pretty much the same as it did right after the earthquake 13 months ago.

If they had the reactors under control you would think they could start cleaning up the site but obviously if the reactors are not under control yet they they have bigger things to worry about than cleaning up the destroyed buildings.
