Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 14310242 Australia 04/13/2012 03:44 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It will not help you- the main threat of the fukushima situation is the release of exotic toxic radioactive 'seeds' (particles) that cannot be detected with conventional detectors. What you are thinking of is only effective as a post-nuclear weapons fallout preventative measure. The threat of fukushima is the release of exotic particulates, of which just one 'seed' that embeds permantely in your lungs is enough to be a potential threat in 10 years since cancerous tissue will POTENTIALLY develop around the radioactive 'seed'.. Just one particle required to be fatal! In which case explore alternative preventative measures to make the enviroment as hostile to cancers as possible. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 974574 Why exactly are you talking about fukushima? I live in Australia and want to take it for my own health benefits so I am not sure why this is getting so off topic. Can anyone else suggest a healthy daily dosage for a starter? |

Bowyn Aerrow User ID: 12560157 United States 04/13/2012 05:19 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Most people in the western world don't need iodine for dietary needs. Because iodine is added to salt and salt is added to everything. If this is because you fear radiation from Fukashma, it won't do you much good. By the time the radioactive cloud gets were you are the iodine 133 (radioactive iodine) is no longer the threat, it is other radio isotopes you have to worry. Taking Iodine for radiation only works to block radioactive iodine from the thyroid because the body can only absorb so much. It DOES NOT block cesium, strontium, thorium, plutonium, uranium etc. "My Dog, its full of fleas!" -David Bowwow “A paranoid is someone who knows a little of what's going on. Vision Thing User ID: 12855271 United States 04/13/2012 10:48 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | What exactly do you have, is it tincture of iodine that is meant to be applied topically? Or is it Lugol's solution that is meant to be taken internally? Quoting: Vision Thing It is a little bottle of Lugols Iodine that is 3% strength. I think mine is 2.5% or so. I think a drop has 3.5 mg or something, I'd have to check. I was taking 5 drops, so that would be 18 or so mg? Then I cut back a little. Why not start slow and build up. It is safe, we have had a lot of threads about iodine/iodide on here, search on both terms. The potassium iodide tablets I had, which I have taken on and off over the last few years, are 32.5 mg. Someone said you should take L-tyrosine when you're taking iodine/iodide and the two are used together to make hormones in your body? Tyrosine you take on an empty stomach but you should take the iodine with food I'm sure. There is no magic bullet, if you're learning about nutrition and orthomolecular medicine you can go all the way and take a wide spectrum of vitamins and minerals and supplements. Our diets are inadequate no matter how hard we try. There is so much to learn about health and we are really blessed to have the internet to keep up with all the new research. |

He's one of the doctors involved in an ongoing 12 year Iodine Project. And the author of ... Iodine: Why You Need It, Why You Can't Live Without It. If anyone should know about the benefit of Iodine it's him. |
