What really happened yesterday in Modesto? | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 8597527 United States 04/13/2012 11:20 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Okay, I'll admit it. I got totally in to the Modesto drama. Quoting: CuriosityCat1 About 1PM MST seemed to drop off the radar. Supposedly the man was killed inside his burning apartment. Really??? Who spends hours waiting for a suspect to come out of a home. Thousands of tax payer dollars and then burns the place to the ground? The last time I saw something comparable was WACO. I can't help but wonder if the man somehow, between the time of the shooting and the arrival of LE, left the area??? Do you burn down an entire group of apartment condos just to get one man out? What do we know about this man other then what we have been told and what reporters have been told. The news today is practically non-existent. WTF really happened? Rob the Grave to Snow the Cradle and Burn the Evidence Down they ALWAYS burn evidence of their crimes down. |

Dead pigs usually hit nationwide news. This shit hasn't even hit drudge yet. All the articles i find are from local cali stations. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 5126083 As soon as I came back onto GLP and saw a new 29pg thread I put cnn, sky, bbc, euro and RT on nothing mentioned anywhere all night, hmmm rouge intel or SF or someone who knows the real shit, its gotta be something like that, cos as you say officers down like the coast guards in Alaska was on Brit news all night but this photogenic news was absent. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 14001965 United States 04/13/2012 11:21 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | IF one were to be conspiracy minded (and who in here doesn't qualify for THAT one?) it could almost be seen as a trial run designed to observe LE's response capabilities. Or it could also have been a great opportunity to show off all of that neat new cop equipment provided by DHS grant money. I mean, who knew that there were that many SWAT teams in sleepy central California? They were pulling personnel and equipment from 4 or 5 adjacent counties. It almost looked like a giant coordinated training exercise. Just think about it - how often do that many different LE organizations get to train together? The communications coordination by itself is mind boggling. The irony of the Stan. County Sheriff going on TV to whine about the budget cuts he faces while standing in front of all that pricy equipment did not escape my notice..... |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 12788000 United States 04/13/2012 11:24 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Our local (big city) newspaper had an online story about a weightlifter who dropped a dumbbell on a bullet that ended up going through his shoulder on Wednesday night, but not one word about the Modesto stand-off. The kicker? The weightlifting story was also in Modesto! Does the mainstream media think that we are ALL so stupid and uncaring??!! BTW, when I originally put the name of the newspaper on this post, I got a red warning messag saying that I could be sued if I actually stated the name of the paper! What in the world is going on??!! (Other than substituing the first few words of this post so as to remove the name of the paper, this post is almost entirely how I originally wrote it.) |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1284302 United States 04/13/2012 11:26 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Something about this incident brings to mind the Jos. Moishe affair of a year or so ago--remember him, the guy who sat in the blazing sun for hours, never flinched when dosed with tear gas and about five gallons of pepper spray? Totally wierd event that VANISHED from the media next day. Re the shootings at the Coast Guard base, its understandable there's not much info being released--a military matter. But....nothing on Drudge or anywhere else about any of this. If it was something akin to RED that went down in multiple places yesterday, it would seem the N. Korean missile launch was sufficient to displace attention away from it. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 4444378 United States 04/13/2012 11:28 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | As luck would have it (and having absolutely nothing else to do yesterday afternoon/evening) I followed the Modesto coverage non-stop from about 1/2 hour after the incident began until midnight PDT. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14001965 I was monitoring Modesto PD, Stanislas (sp?) county sheriff and fire frequencies thanks to "radioreference" as well as the Fox40 TV coverage. A few things were remarkable about the incident. Among them was the fact that they erected temporary fences around the scene and the unprecidented level of LE response. Even seasoned TV reporters commented that they had never seen that level of response to a single barricaded suspect. The other strange occurance (well documented by Fox40) was the deployment of an FBI heavy armored vehicle upon which the TV audience saw technicians erecting an LRAD system. My question was why attach an LRAD device for a suspect holed up in an apartment? I mean, why a crowd control device for a barricade situation? The other anomaly was that up until I pulled the plug, with the fire raging in the complex, LE still could not confirm that there was even a suspect in the residence! It would seem that no sign of any shooter was seen after the initial attacks on the locksmith and the deputy. Finally the unusual number of similar incidents occuring at the same time in various parts of the country had me wondering if there was a coordinated effort involved. Shooting incidents requiring lockdowns and massive police response were reported in Denver, CO, of course the NH incident as well as one in Texas and also Ohio. And then there was the mysterious double homicide at the Coast Guard Kodiak Island communications station. Altogether it seems that yesterday was, to say the least, a remarkable day in law enforcement. very keen observer |

EVERYTHING having to do with any government organisation in the US is a conspiracy, since they are all for profit corporations. what the hell is a government doing operating as a for profit corporation? they are supposed to regulate business, not join in the competition. no constitution, state or national, authorizes governments to operate as corporate entities. since they are all operating under color of law, they are all outlaws and personally liable for any damages, including pubnitive for false arrest, kidnapping, etc. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1001302 United States 04/13/2012 11:38 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I also found it funny that Fox40 ran with the internet rumor that the shooter was bragging about his deeds on an infamous troll site whose very name would probably trip the "autoban" on this site. They even went so far as to print out an entire thread which purported to be from the gunman. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14001965 Of course it is somewhat understandable since they were starved for information from "official" sources and trying to transition from their normal routine to what became an 8 hour live broadcast. Oh well, thats life in the the news cycle I guess..LOL I linked the few pages of the "supposed" poster on the thread yesterday. I was going back and forth about whether it was actually him or not all day. I still have the page up that was pulled down after the news started reporting the possibility that it was him. I have most of the thread saved because I didn't refresh (and lose it) after it was pulled. If it was him he only posted a few times. I am thinking now it wasn't a troll. If it was actually him that fact probably contributes to the news not reporting the story anymore. I don't think they want anyone getting any ideas... |

Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 1445528 United States 04/13/2012 11:51 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | From what I read yesterday this place was a "condo." People who had money bought these condos and then they rented them out to people. Income producing property. Supposedly the father, or grandfather died...the names are all alike and confusing... he was the original owner of the condo. After he died the rest of the family, one son and two daughters refinanced. For whatever reason they were behind on the loan since last fall and then they went into foreclosure. So I take it that it was a family residence for some time. IF the story is true, that is. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 5126083 There were all kinds of strange shootings yesterday in all kinds of different places.. Wonder if they were somehow related? Exactly. I turned on the tv this morning to find out how it all came out, and there was not a peep about it. There was a mention on FOX which lasted about 10 seconds and just showed LE running down the street between rows of parked cars. They said that they hadn't found his body yet...... "I have come to the conclusion that all news should be treated like 9/11, assume it is a psyop with actors participating in a staged event complete with props, until proven otherwise, in which case assume whatever is being recorded, reported, televised, is distortions/lying by omission/outright lies, until proven otherwise." - Anonymous, 4-13-12 |

Just out of nowhere. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 8597527 Does not pass the smell test. I forgot about the Sacramento one. It was mentioned on Fox40 one time as I recall.
