Anonymous Coward User ID: 1435129 United States 04/13/2012 05:41 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have been watching this system brew for a couple of days now and it’s not pretty! Quoting: CowgirlK This storm is a loaded gun full of super cells, tornado's, and hail with the potential to destroy lots of property and lives. If you ANYWHERE in the Central USA….you need to be taking precautions NOW!!! It looks like Missouri is in the bulls eye tonight Saturday - Nebraska, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Texas Sunday - Iowa and Minnesota This is a big bad dangerous storm. They are saying baseball size hail and 70 mph winds even if you don’t get hit with a twister. Please warn your family and friends so that they have time to make preparations. You may lose power, water, communications, and hopefully not your life. >>>SPC has has issued their highest level of alert, a "High Risk," for portions of Oklahoma and Kansas for Saturday. Included in the "High Risk" area are the cities of Wichita and Oklahoma City. This is the second time SPC has issued a "High Risk" forecast this year; the first "High Risk" forecast came for the March 2 tornado outbreak, which killed 41 people and did $1.5 - $2 billion in damage. It is very unusual for SPC to issue a "High Risk" forecast more than a day in advance of a suspected tornado outbreak; according to Wikipedia, today's "High Risk" forecast is only the second time SPC has ever done this. The other instance was for the April 6 - 8, 2006 tornado outbreak focused over Tennessee, which generated 73 tornadoes that killed 13 and did $1.5 billion in damage. People living in the threatened area need to pay close attention on Saturday to this dangerous severe weather situation.<<< [link to classic.wunderground.com] I have been reading on the Met boards that this storm may be one of the worst tornado outbreaks in US history. I pray they are wrong! Pay attention to your local weather service this weekend, be safe everyone and get the word out NOW!!! we r traveling on I 64 right now near Mt Vernon IL, the wind is SO strong the car can't stay in a straight line. sheer winds picked up like crazy. Looked @ noaa-no warnings 4 this area but it is scary. |

Quoting: Rawrss Since last year i had a tornado scare and now I'm terrified of them. FUCK! Yep..just talked to some family in STL..weather is kicking up now. If you have a basement your are safe..we dont have many of those in Texas :( Just curious....why don't homes in Texas have basements? You would think considering how hot it is there, people would want to have cool basements under ground. If people don't have them, where else in a home is safe during a tornado? Tornado shelters? The recent tornado's we've seen, homes were flattened! |

All classic SW to NE configuration. oh, I hear it now, the next round coming in. I Support Our First Responders |

The recent tornado's we've seen, homes were flattened! Every time you dig in the ground in Texas you hit oil! LOL I do not know why we dont have basements. It has something to do with the type of soil and cost from what I hear. Some people have basements..just not many of us. At my house we hide under the steps and in a hall bathroom. I do have a stone grotto type hot tub in the yard. I was thinking if I could get some seat belts to strap myself into that thing..It would be one heck of a place to ride out a storm...LOL |
