our cat often comes back, but as time goes by it is less and less....he sits by the door and meows to come in , just like the old days.

Dust and debris in the air, reflecting off your flash.

This picture was taken just moments before the first orb pic I posted. Just to show there was nothing there before I did a brief meditation.

Hmmm... interesting. Hard to say man. Sometimes phenomena are only captured by device; sometimes only by eye.

Sure is hard to apply the scientific method to a intelligent phenomena.
 Quoting: Muggl3z

For what it's worth...

I had been seeing these small lights zipping around for a while. Not just out of the corner of my eyes either. These guys were 'powering up' right in front of my face.

My wife was not able to see them, so I suggested that we take some pics out in the yard. I'd read on some website that the orbs respond strongly to the emotion of love.

So we went outside and I told my wife to take a couple of control pics to see if any orbs were present. They were not.

For about one minute, I meditated on love. Receiving/reflecting.

When I was finished I took a sip of my drink. At that time my wife saw all the orbs flood into the view finder and snapped the pic, before I was actually ready as you can see.

True story.

My german shepherd that was 14 died in her sleep in 2010. Every now and then I'll hear doggie toenails clicking on the tile floor in the kitchen or hear the screen door banging when there is no wind (when she was outside and wanted in, she would push the screen door with her paw which has enough play in it to cause it to bang)
Once, when I mopped the kitchen floor and opened the back door and screen door to let the breeze in to help dry it, a set of wet paw prints appeared on the concrete patio just outside the door a few minutes later - she was notorious for walking across freshly mopped floors !

Two one star votes?

You must think I'm making this up?

Or do you just have something against dead animals?

Tough crowd man.
 Quoting: <Path>

You got one-star votes because you didn't say ANYTHING about what happened. Like when did this happen, where were you, who else might have seen it, WHAT exactly did you see it, how long did it last, have you seen it again, etc. What is with people who post a thread with a subject like yours and give absolutely NO details?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14034519

When did this happen?

About 20 minutes before the original post.

Where were you?

I was at my computer when she took the dog out into the back yard, at the dog's urging.

Who else might have seen it?

We have a fenced in yard, so just my wife saw it.

How long did it last?

She says about five seconds.

Oh shit that reminds me.

When we first got the Bichon we took this picture out in the snow of her playing.

There was no light source in the yard besides the camera flash. The light appears where the dog is supposed to be in the picture.

Heard my pet rabbit moving around in his hutch, a few days after he passed away in front of me. I had been inconsolable, his little 'hello' really helped. That was over 3 years ago, met him in dreams too!

Though it will have been either imagination, another dog, or a combination of the two......

I don't think professional help is warranted, unless it happens a lot.

It's very common for someone to think they have seen a departed person or animal, to which they had an emotional attachment. The mind can do funny things at times - but unless it becomes a problem, or a regular occurrance, then IMHO it is perfectly normal.
