I figured for sure, there would be some discussion on this.

These articles talk about the end of the current cycle and the beginning of a new cycle.. Kind of like our own calendar that went from 1999 to 2000. It was the end of the 19 hundreds and the beginning of the 2000’s.

The 1900’s had the stock market crash of 1929, and the dirty '30s, they had world wars, they had the 24% interest rates for mortgages, they had Vietnam, Korea, Iraq and Afghanistan.

We’ll have to wait and see if the 2000’s are worse…

That's how I've always interpreted it... a time of great change...but I think it may be dramatic also!!

I have a funny feeling the dramatics may be man made, if we do have dramatics... The earth.. will just go on her marry way .. doing what she does.. some good, some bad..
The entire galexy and all the planets in it are heating up, so I'm thinking the global warming on earth will continue.. but is it man made? I don't think so. Maybe they will finally tell the people on MSM about this. It's long over due.

There are many self-proclaimed maya shaman that all disagree on what it means. So that looks like the right answer to me. Go about your life and see what happens. Of course, being prepared might make it easier to go about your life with worrying what manner of death awaits around every corner.

The old stone mayan calendar ends Dec 2012 -- nothing more. Expect new, updated stone calendars in the mail soon. They will have bigger magnets as many people were complaining of the old stone calendars falling off the refrigerator and damaging hardwood floors.

I agree. I think much of what lies ahead will be man made but can't help thinking that our solar system entering the disk of our Galaxy and aligning with the the centre could have unknown effects on Earth and that this is what the Mayan calender is all about.
