CISPA = SOPA 2.0 The lowdown on what is coming down the pipes with CISPA
It’s a little piece of SOPA wrapped up in a bill that’s supposedly designed to facilitate detection of and defense against cyber security threats. The language is so vague that an ISP could use it to monitor communications of subscribers for potential infringement of intellectual property…

An ISP could even interpret this bill as allowing them to block accounts believed to be infringing, block access to websites like The Pirate Bay believed to carry infringing content, or take other measures provided they claimed it was motivated by cyber security concerns.”

It's gonna happen. One way or the other. Resistance is futile.

Build your low-tech community network now. Buy books on essential skills. Once the Internet is severely restricted you WILL need a way to find and work with like minded people and have access to info that is not net-connection dependent.

Do it now while the resource is there. It may not be there much longer.

I have already written my reps in DC twice about CISPA, and about SOPA so many times they are tired of hearing about it. I recommend everyone do the same. Write them often enough and they will actually give a personal answer. It may not be from your congressman or senator (I don't really know) but a real person in Washington reads it and responds to it. Sending an email is easy and only takes couple of minutes.

Please write them NOW! And do it often.

Hey, don't forget we made the internet what it is today. We can take it away as long as we all get together. Its really simple just everyone stop buying online and that will tell them who's the boss. One month of everyone getting off there ass and going to the store to buy what they want will send messages around the world.

Thanks for the link to that article.. for those of you wondering about the article.. here is the last paragraph snipped for you to see.

No where near 50% of the original article..for those checking.

A copy of the bill is available on the committee website, as is a Q&A about the legislation. It was approved by the panel in December by a vote of 17 to 1, but has not yet been considered by the full House or Senate.

Other groups participating in this week's protest include Access Now, American Library Association, Avaaz, Canadian Internet Policy and Public Interest Clinic, Center for Democracy and Technology, The Constitution Project, Demand Progress, Fight for the Future, Free Press, OpenMedia.ca, Open the Government, Privacy Rights Clearinghouse, Reverse Robo Call, Sunlight Foundation, Techdirt, and TechFreedom.

they don't care about GLP and the like. they are trying to regulate the market in which there is a drag due to the intellectual rights being infringed upon. you wouldn't want asswipes sharing your shit on the internet when you're trying to get paid. because we have this drag in this market, it directly has an effect on our economy and jobs, because when people illegally obtain products instead of paying, companies lose millions of dollars that could be creating jobs, new technologies, and new industries.
