my2centsworth (OP) User ID: 5382682 Canada 04/16/2012 11:08 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm thinking we have good reason to be worried about this one. As the narrator of the video, on my original post says, the big names like Google and Facebook are behind this legislation.. that is what makes it so scary. Up until recently, both Google and Facebook we against more infringement by government on the internet.. Don't know why they have now changed their minds, but the fact that they won't be fighting this legislation, means it will probably go through without a hitch. Wouldn't it be nice if we could just sit on it? :) Unfortunately, we will have to do far more than sit, through this. We'll have to be letting our legislators know, we don't want this to go through, in no uncertain terms. |

They're censoring CONTENT, facts and data. Thread: Internet Attacks on the Innocent HAVE BEGUN! |

Unfortunately, Burt G, it looks like the cleaning of the house is running a tad late.. by the time they are cleaned out of there, the legislation will be through. Looks like the Untypiclal User is already being sensored for his beliefs.. facebook or not, there shouldn't be that kind of hassel. Last Edited by my2centsworth on 04/17/2012 06:56 AM |
Carol B. User ID: 1265827 United States 04/17/2012 08:32 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It’s a little piece of SOPA wrapped up in a bill that’s supposedly designed to facilitate detection of and defense against cyber security threats. The language is so vague that an ISP could use it to monitor communications of subscribers for potential infringement of intellectual property… Quoting: my2centsworth An ISP could even interpret this bill as allowing them to block accounts believed to be infringing, block access to websites like The Pirate Bay believed to carry infringing content, or take other measures provided they claimed it was motivated by cyber security concerns.” [link to video.godlikeproductions.com] I must be doing something wrong, this is the second Youtube video, I haven't been able to embed. Sorry guys. If you can embed it, please do so. Here you go... Thanks Caral B. I really appreciate you embedding this puppy. Could you tell me what I did wrong? I went to the original youtube of the video, hit share, copied the url, typed [youtube....pasted URL.../youtube] That used to work for me...if memory serves me correctly. Yep..after you copy/paste the url into your response box, you gotta highlight it and click on the top youtube video. (located on the top of the response box). s. d. butler User ID: 974819 United States 04/18/2012 05:41 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | hey McFly, its all so simple: Quoting: mcFly 1572549 3+ generations ago (100 years or so) - radio was the new technology, and the airwaves were wide open, and mostly free eventually the big money people consolidated it and regulated it , now you have a few big companies control the whole industry 2+ generations ago (70 years or so) - tv was the new technology, and the airwaves were wide open, and mostly free eventually the big money people consolidated it and regulated it , now you have a few big companies control the whole industry 1+ generation ago (40 years or so) - cable was the new technology, with a lot of small players and local markets eventually the big money people consolidated it and regulated it , now you have a few big companies control the whole industry todays generation, now, and its the same story with the internet just watch - in ten years you will have to pick out 'internet packages' like you do cable packages: will you go with the facebook/twitter/ny times/hulu package for an additional $20 per month, or the google+/usa today/youtube/etc one for $15? its coming... You are probably right. Certainly your historical examples are correct. I suppose there is the forlorn hope that the internet will be different. |
