Anubis User ID: 1395589 Canada 04/16/2012 09:19 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Lentil bean & shredded potato burger would be great on a french bread poorboy, ,mayo, mustard & cajun seasoning! Quoting: Ozark Or the lentil soup, nicely seasoned with some good french bread or pistolet bread! Pistolet is a small french bread, single serving size, kind of triangular shape, dusted with cornmeal. In cajun country, you can get pistolets stuffed with all sorts of food, crawfish etouffee, boudin, shrimp (I will eat no seafood, period, since the Gulf disaster), but you could stuff with lentils, thick creamy foods, etc. and they deep fry them or you can bake them. Yumm, yumm, yumm. Stuff you can get in Whole Foods deli, I live too far to go very often, 3 hour drive. There was no "other" vote choice, so I hit blank, just so you know! yep between the gulf spill and fukushima the sea fare is suspect, except maybe from the north atlantic |

In other words, what the FAVORITE is...depends on the type of restaurant. I certainly wouldn't order a taco from a steakhouse nor would I order a steak at a fast food place. That being said, I like the steak at a proper steak place, a taco at a proper Mexican/Southwest place and so forth. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1246353 Panama 04/16/2012 10:07 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I didn't see any of these items on the list, but... For a breakfast item, I love biscuits with milk gravy. There are very few restaurants that serve that. Crepes are also excellent. I love homemade chicken and dumplings. It's a great comfort food and not many places serve it. For a high end meal, I love prime rib with a baked sweet potato on the side. It seems to be getting harder to find a restaurant that has prime rib available. They always tell me they don't have any even though it's on the menu. |

Da Purple Chicken User ID: 12813953 United States 04/16/2012 10:53 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm a chef and prefer my own cooking - there is nothing on your list that I would choose, though I am sure it is all excellent. That being said, when I do go out, it is either for Japanese, Thai, Chinese or Vietnamese food. Though...there is a Cuban restaurant on Oahu that is truly incredible. OK, now I'm hungry! “If we are peaceful, if we are happy, we can smile and blossom like a flower, and everyone in our family, our entire society, will benefit from our peace.” Thich Nhat Hanh, Being Peace "But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish in the sea inform you." - Job 12:7,8 "When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro." - Hunter S. Anonymous Coward User ID: 1190661 Australia 04/16/2012 11:51 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | For instance I chose fried chicken... but I wasn't referring to the KFC deep fried chicken style. What I have found is that I am often disappointed with steak, as I can prepare better quality steak at home, and so I generally choose a salad with baked potato to go with the chicken. Afterall it is difficult to ruin a chicken dish...lol Although some do their very best trying!...lol I hope your restaurant does really well. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1500171 United States 04/17/2012 12:35 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My favorite restaurant: for the money, food and flavor: [link to www.bosphorus-nc.com] My favorite steak, and (typically) high dollar meal: [link to margauxsrestaurant.com] These are my examples of: where I like to go for lunch and quick dinner vs. Dining I am a picky eater. I don't go to the same place to order stuff. I go to places that are good at what they do. My best suggestion for any restaurant is to have an acceptably narrow focus. Do what you are good at. I would rather see a small menu with food done properly, than a large menu with a vast choice of mediocrity. I wouldn't go to a bistro for a steak, I would go there for a sandwich or a burger, wrap or something relatively quick. I don't visit bistros for a nice dinner, for that, I want a meal at a restaurant with a vault of wine and talented chef that knows how much gorgonzola can be safely added to a filet without tainting the demi-glace. If I ran your restaurant, I would expand on what sells most. I would focus on time. When are you busiest? What food best suits those who come at those times. Why do your customers go there in the first place? Is it a specific dish, convenience, atmosphere, etc. Walmart is a perfect example of what works. If you can provide the same or better product for less, you will win on volume rather than price. Volume is the key to successful business, if you can identify what you do best and capitalize on it, you will win. That means identifying what sells most and making it more appealing, less expensive and promoting it. |

Eggcellent Re-Instate Smith-Mundt! User ID: 13043121 United States 04/17/2012 01:51 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You forgot SHRIMP!!!!!! I can't afford to go out to eat, but once a year on my birthday my neighbors take me out to the Red Lobster for the all-you-can-eat shrimp. That restaurant loses a lot of money on ME!!! I wait ALL YEAR for that - it's better than Christmas! PS. Good luck with your restaurant! soulsurvivor User ID: 14475004 United States 04/17/2012 03:06 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There's a local restaurant that's been booming for years now because the owner has perfected recipes for a grilled steak and SOB potato and serves it with a perfect salad. The restaurant is located back in the knoblands, difficult to find even with gps, and yet has lines of customers waiting to eat nightly. I suggest promoting your best items and go for the volume sales. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1429178 United States 04/17/2012 09:38 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The chef's special sounds excellent. Wish i could visit your restaurant. Yes, a small but perfect menu is best - do a little and do it well. Connsistently. Fresh salads. The only think we order often as an appetizer or dinner to share is Nachos. Loaded Nachos, good ingredients. Lots of REAL cheese ( many choices), fresh tomatoes, jalapenos, guac., sour cream, toppped with grilled chicken or ground beef for a main dish. So good and cries out for a margarita. |
