Farrakhan supported Elijah's Nation of Islam, which Malcom X split from after going to Mecca. Both Farrakhan & Elijah had it in for Malcom X, and the Nation of Islam had been infiltrated by the FBI. The FBI mole had met with the convicted murderer of Malcom X the night before. Although it is true Farrakhan had been stoking violence against Malcom X, so was nearly the entire Nation of Islam. Ironically, Farrakhan's position these days is not that far different than Malcom X's after he left Nation of Islam. MLK, in contrast, drifted somewhat towards the viewpoints others had raised earlier, that peaceful demonstrations were preferable to violence, but achieved nothing. Changing the laws for equality without legal enforcement changed nothing.
