Re: WANTED!! PEOPLE TO HELP START AN OFF THE GRID COMMUNITY!
Dear OP,

I've been looking for some folks with whom I could join forces. I just have some questions. Although I am a firm believer in God, I wouldn't want to be a part of a strictly religious community. Is complete religious freedom OK with you and yours? Also, I do like the occasional psychotropic including cannabis. I am a spiritual person and this goes along with my spirituality. Is this OK with you and yours?

I am a survivalist with several skill sets that would benefit an off-the-grid community. I've never been a freeloader and my personal pride prohibits it. I am mostly accustomed to woodland and desert environments but I am highly adaptable. I am skilled as a worker, artisan, scientist and musician. I have worked in the medical field my entire adultife and have maintained valid CPR/first-aid certification. I am well-educated and highly motivated.

Thanks for the opportunity, OP.

Re: WANTED!! PEOPLE TO HELP START AN OFF THE GRID COMMUNITY!
Been interested for years! But what I'm interested in is way too expensive. I wouldn't plan on going without electricity. I was thinking more along the line of wind generators, solar panels, and things of that sort. And then a geothermal heat source would also be nice. Years ago all of this was too expensive. I can't imagine what it all would cost today. So, unless I win the lottery or something, I'll have to be content to keep slaving away at my dead-end job that just pays me enough to scrape by until my next paycheck. Besides, I'm not as young as I was back then. Even gardening and canning is a lot of work! I know because I had to do it back when I needed the xtra groceries just to get by when my kids were younger. So, I consider it just a dream that will never come to pass. If you're young and healthy with the money to get started, go for it!

Finally a decent reply to my original post (no offense to everyone else LOL)

To be honest though, i hadn't given much thought to religion in this sense, but i had imaagined this group to be a homogenous one, just on the basis that it is my belief that all this multiculturualism stuff is a load of old cobblers and dont think there's really any evidence that suggests it works or benefits anyone. All it seems to have done so far is endanger the white populations of these multicultural countrie with extinction! But thats a topic for another time XDDD.

Also it depends on the religions, i certainly wouldn't allow any satanists to join for example. Although i have no problems with pagans, (actually i think i would prefer pagans) so yeah i'll have to think about that one, see what the research says about it.

ON the subject of psychoactive substances i have no problem with them whatsoever and think they should be legalised and researched more closely, especially magic mushrooms, ayahuasca and ibogaine. The only issue i have is in the possible scenario where our little group is discovered by the authorities or NWO. If we are caught and they find all our mariijuana and magic mushroom crops then the legalities of that would make things complicated.

But as i talked about in my OP i am trying to prepare for all scenarios, so it just depends on what happens i guess

OP, what you are talking about is basically being Amish. Except for the religion part, unless you want to incorporate that too (they don't have churches, just meet at each other's houses). Study some Amish communities in America.

If you can find it, watch the documentary "The Amish", new this year I believe. It was on PBS. Real eye opener.

Re: WANTED!! PEOPLE TO HELP START AN OFF THE GRID COMMUNITY!
You know OP, there are many intentional communities that will let you come and stay as a guest. They do this for a couple of reasons. One, if you are interested in joining them, it's like a trial period to see how everyone gets along and two, for a learning experience for the guest. You may want to visit several different types of communities to see what works and what doesn't.

I personally have dreamed of being part of or starting an intentional community for many years and have looked into it quite a bit. An uncle of mine helped found some of the first hippie communes in the US during the 60s which inspired the dream within me at a very young age.

You also may want to research some of the older communities around the world like Findhorn in Scotland, The Farm in Tennessee or The Hog Farm in California.

Well yeah thats why i decided to not bother with all this solar panel and wind turbine malarki, just to keep the costs down, even today its still pretty expensive, well it is in Oz anyway.

The problem with all this technology stuff, (especially if your talk solar panels for an off the grid community) is that its all good until it breaks down, if your living in the wilderness what are you gonna do? how you gonna get a technician to come fix it? what if you need spare parts?

A breakdown particulary nowadays is even more bound to happen, tech just isn't built to last anymore. More to the point however is that i really think we as a society are just too dependant on our technology, i doubt most people these days in a survival situation could start a fire, build a basic sheltar, get clean water and food etc... if there really is a solar storm coming in december then we're doomed!

thanks for the support though LOL

Off the grid in the less free countries of the "1st world"?

Absolutely contradictory and ridiculous. You would be playing boy scouts in a gated farm. You will be under total surveillance and required to comply in every absurd little thing they want to. Just forget it. See what happened to communes in the 70's. sistematically destroyed. In the 2010's? give me a break.

Off the grid has to be done far away. I am colombian, us resident, now working in southeast asia. High mountains, moderate sismic activity (in some parts only), heaps of natural resources. With the cost of a nice house in the USA you can buy yourself a mountain in Colombia. if somebody is serious email me. bebubananas at hotmail dot com

Well thats whats so good about Australia, we are already part of the NWO so if there is a thermo nuclear war, (which there probably will be in order to depopulate the earth) we're safe 1) we are not the enemy of nwo so they are not going to attack us 2) if australia gets involved in the war and sides with the US, which most likely it will, china is not going to waste its expensive nuclear weapons on the tiny and spread out population of Australia, we are only about 20 million. This means that in a war we are safe from both sides. 3) geogically speaking we are also one of the safest places altho we have the dangerous bugs and stuff, we dont have any volcanoes or earthquakes, hurricanes or tsunamis.

and if there is a war its deliberatly going to be the worst one yet, the NWO's plan is to make this war so terrible that the remaining global population will cry out for permanent world peace and that is when the global governments will come together to form a one world government. So my point is, during and after this horrific war, I don't think the Australian government isn't going to be wasting time and money trying to hunt down and persecute a few nutty people living in the wilderness.

But yes, you have done one thing right and chosen a country in the southern hemisphere to bug out in, unfortunately its a bit too close to N.America for my liking. Its so close to america that in the event of a world thermo nuclear war, chances are columbia will get a nice big cloud of nuclear radiation coming its way, along with american refugees who are going to want some of your food, shelter and supplies.

Not only that but countryside columbia still has very high crime rates, so if your fellow columbians haven't prepared and they find you with all you food and supplies? I don't think they are going to be very hesitant to murder you and be done with it, i doubt it will be their first time. In 2010 alone more than 16,000 people were murdered in columbia

So Columbia a good choice for a SHTF scenario? I think it is you bebo who should fuck off s226

First, a microwave oven can work in a pinch....but, if you want to build one for larger items, it's not that difficult.

Take a shed, 8'x10' and drive 8' ground rods in the ground around it, starting at the corners and then between them every 2'. Then get #6 ground wire and line the walls and ceiling with it, spacing the wire approx. 2"-3" apart. Make all the wire grounded together and attach it to the ground rods on the exterior, take the wire and attach it to all the rods around the exterior of the shed.

After that, get 4'x 8' sheets of 4" foam insulted plywood and cover the interior walls & ceiling. Seal the seams with fire/heat electrical puddy and tape over with foil heat tape.

I have many skills....but, I'm here in the US....would love to come to the down under! But, my wife would never entertain the thought.

Good luck my friend!
