Low Carb diets always make you gain weight in the long run. Here is why.
Because low carb diets are starvation diets.

People think that the complex carbs in a donuts is what is making them Fat but it's the fact that 60% of the calories in a donuts are fat calories.

The United States eats the highest percentage of fat and protein in their diet of any industrialized Nation so it should be no surprise that they are the fattest.

Japan, which eats highest percentage carbs out of any industrialized nation. Is the thinnest.

European nations fall in between with both with the fat consumed and with obesity rates.

See a pattern.

Low carb diets are complete horseshit. You might lose weight initially but you will wreck your metabolism which means in the long run you will gain it all back and then some.

1 gram of fat has 9 calories.
1 gram of carbs has 4 calories.

I can go on.

My friend drinks 10 Sodas/day and eats rice/fruits/vegetables and is thin. In fact most thin people I see eat all of the carbs they want. They don't restrict them at all.

EVERY SINGLE PERSON I'VE SEEN DO LOW CARB GAINS THE WEIGHT BACK.

Hell even Atkins was 260 fucking pounds when he died. OBESE

Don't give me that horse shit about HFCS being the cause either because I watch soccer players drink Gatorade all day and never gain a pound.

Gatorade is loaded with HFCS.

Simple. Get off of your ass and move. Eat carbs for energy so you have the energy to move.

i think the reasoning is that not all carbs are created equally. some carbs get converted to 'sugars' quicker than others. veggie carbs are 'slow' carbs in that they con't get converted quickly. bread, pasta, crappy food etc are fast carbs. protein, good fats (like olive oil, avacodoes etc) and veggies are what we should be eating the most of.

Low carb diets do work, and quite well I might add. True if you don't change eating habbits when done and continue to stuff your face with cabr laden goodies, then yes the fat will come back.

The science behind low carb is just that scientific fact. Restricting the carb intake, which your body is used to digesting and eating protein and fats, pulls a fast one on the metabolism. The digestive system when it comes to digesting the proteins and fats determines it is too much effort to perform this function for energy, so it then uses stored fat for current energy needs. The proteins and fats are then duked out.

Personally I like the diet because it is also refered to as 'the drinkers diet', I don't have to give up my prefered method of decompression.

It has nothing to do with the type of carbs.

Look at FACTS

JAPAN EATS 80% CARBS- They are thin.

US Eats 50% carbs= WE ARE FAT.

I've seen obese vegans because they drizzle olive oil on their salads.

Judge by RESULTS. RESULTS PROVE THAT HIGH PROTEIN DIETS GIVE YOU GOUT.

Results prove I'm right.

I guess John Hopkins would disagree with you...

Johns Hopkins researchers have made the proponents of the always controversial Atkins diet very happy.

A recent study presented at the American Heart Association’s March meeting lauded low-carb diets such as Atkins for producing weight loss and belly fat loss — linked to heart disease — more efficiently than low-fat diets.

Johns Hopkins, which has an office in Palm Beach, did not receive any money from Atkins for the study, according to Aliza Rothman, publicist for Atkins Nutritionals.

Both diets did result in weight loss, but those on the Atkins diet lost more over the time period of the study.

“After six months, those who were on the low-carb diet lost an average of 28.9 pounds versus 18.7 pounds among those on the low-fat diet,” said lead investigator Kerry J. Stewart, a professor of medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine as well as director of clinical and research exercise physiology at the Johns Hopkins Heart and Vascular Institute.

The Johns Hopkins researchers also found that concerns over eating more fat, which those on low-carb diets may do, are misplaced. For years, anti-Atkins people have claimed that eating fat can contribute to heart disease. Johns Hopkins found that the study participants’ blood vessels, even on Atkins, improved with weight loss.

Re: Low Carb diets always make you gain weight in the long run. Here is why.
I've low carbed it every spring, just as I am now, for the last decade, drink vodka instead of beer(vodka no carbs), drop like 35lbs by summer (end of june), look much better, I do excercise regularly, cheat one day a week(sunday), by tuesday I'm back in ketosis. When all is said and done I attempt to form better eating habbitts and about 10lbs come back on. then inevitably around christmas stress time I eat like one of those chicks who has cottage cheese going down her thighs and wears those big poofy pasely dresses that used to be table cloths, you know the one's with dark hair, mustache, and when she moves just right the slight seperation of her ass crack causes an odor to whaft through the room.......well any way I eat like one of them for a month or so, and bamm as soon as the nice weather comes around I wake up out of glutonnous slumber and realize I've gained it all back, full circle, one year....yes I've been doing it a decade, people don't think of me as fat even at my heavy wieght.

Re: Low Carb diets always make you gain weight in the long run. Here is why.
Honestly, the best diet I have implemented was the following:

Eat one meal a day (green veggies and meats only)
Drink coffee all day except for the one meal
only use regular pure cane sugar (speeds up metabolism)
Do not eat any fruits
Do not eat crap (potato chips, candy, etc)

Do this for a month and the pounds will come off (worked for me). I lost over 30 lbs this way. It seems that the coffee and sugar stimulate the metabolism, while the greens/meat dinners feed carbs.

After you get to the weight you want, you can start eating two meals a day but try to stay away from fruits and general junk foods. Lunch, for me, consists of meats, bread, nuts, etc.

Try it and see. Once your system adjusts, you will find that you only need to consume a small portion of food. If you get hunger pains, suck down more coffee. The reason for coffee is that it has less of the bad crap than soda. The only soda I even consume nowadays is Grapefruit soda from Jamaica (no fluoride in water and only pure cane sugar).

Hope this may help someone.

Japanese eat more carbs than people in the US.
