If you have lp(A), you can suffer heart attack even if you run all the time. Best way to keep lp(A) from making it worse is by cutting carbs. Ironic, huh? Read Wheat Belly, Heart Scan Blog, Track Your Plaque, etc. We all gonna die sooner or later. In the meantime, I got a hot body, I can eat whatever I want, and I feel great. I can also out run the cops, if needed. Good for you. I need to get back to running. It has been a while since I ran half marathon... |

Ask an underweight person! people are overweight (and underweight) because they are UNWELL. i have tried low calorie, low fat, ultra-low carb. i've been a vegetarian and also a vegan. I have rejected all these special diets over time. there is a reason that we have been handed the "balanced meal" from our ancestors. traditional meals with carb, fat, protein, veg works best for most people. yes, there are reasons for some people to be low carb. ultra-low carb can be life-saving for those with type 1 diabetes--it keeps them off the blood sugar roller coaster and helps them live longer, healthier. there are other disease states in which ketosis is useful, don't get me wrong. but for most people, they need to get HEALTHY to get their bodies to decide to be a healthier weight. this means solving (amongst others) inflammation problems (chronic infections, say, including teeth), nutrient deficiencies, sleep problems including apnea, toxic liver from a lifetime of drinking and pain relievers and pharmaceuticals, busted gut from antibiotic usage, chronic lack of vitamin D, couch potato syndrome, wrong sex hormones, lack of iodide, gluten intolerance...some may need to take control of their own thyroid meds and get on natural thyroid--basically the whole gamut of natural health. and that is why loosing/gaining weight is such a complex issue. |

Everybody has their own idea on what low carbs really means. It is totally useless anyway. I prefer hard numbers. I've been reading studies over low carbs, saturated fat, cholesterol, etc forever. Again, just saying "low carbs" means nothing. If you want to "cure" diabetes type 2 assuming it's not too late, hit low carbs. However what is exactly low carbs diet? That is where everybody get confused. It could be anything. When I recommend a low carb diet, I am much more specific over what it consist of.
