MIT grad student builds online 'lie detector'
This story is four months old, so the inventor has probably been killed by now, but this was something we could have really made good use of during the (s)election season.

MIT grad student builds online 'lie detector'

November 24, 2011 6:13pm

The next time politicians or other officials make self-serving or suspicious claims, an Internet equivalent of “truth goggles” may soon be set up to flag such claims.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Media Lab graduate student Dan Schultz is working on software that can highlight false claims in online articles.

Every time you read an article from the MSM, you run the software and it'll tell you how much of the article is bullshit.

Re: MIT grad student builds online 'lie detector'
Original arictle is from niemanlab.org, article title is: Bull beware: Truth goggles sniff out suspicious sentences in news. Google it yourself, not gonna supply a link since i somehow get autobanned a lot for posting links/urls.

The software he is making isn't really that big of a deal, what it does is automaticly search if something is real or not. The example used in the article:

You’re reading a wrap-up of the Sept. 22 Republican presidential debate when you land on this claim from Rep. Michele Bachmann: “President Obama has the lowest public approval ratings of any president in modern times.”

Really? You start googling for evidence. Maybe you scour the blogs or the fact-checking sites. It takes work, all that critical thinking.

The only thing his software does is automaticly check a database to see if the statement President Obama has the lowest public approval ratings of any president in modern times is wrong or right. Instead of you searching Google his software will do that job for you.

Don't really get why OP is saying he might be killed already, did he even read the article or only the title of the article?
