Re: The hang out...
Ok, so an update.

First of all, I survived. chuckle

I went over there a couple of hours ago, nervous as I have never been before for anything in my life.

The first two questions I asked were:
- Like any GLP'er would ask, what type of filling are you going to use? Metals, Mercury? lOl
- How long does the anesthetic work? Because yes, I can be a pussy sometimes. lOl

Answers:
- I forgot the name to be honest but no metals, nor mercury. It was the paste I was hoping for.
- The anesthetic would work for 2 1/2 hours.

So that put me at ease a little but still very nervous.

Then he started and pretty much didn't feel a thing. The sound of the drill was a bit unsettling to be honest but all was good. At some point my jaw was starting to hurt because I was laying there for quite some time with my mouth wide open.

But all went pretty well.

The funny thing which again made me freak out a bit was when I was on my way home and I started to play around a bit with my teeth because it feels like there is something in my mouth which should't be there and I noticed that my upper and bottom teeth doesn't close exactly the way it did before. Like the shape was not the same like it was before the filling. But I started texting some of my friends who also has a root canal treatment and it turns out that it is normal the first couple of days and that it will pass. Pfew.

So all in all, I am good.

I think the anesthetic still needs to wear off so I am not sure what the after pain will be like but I already took an aspirin so I am hoping for the best now.

Want to thank all of you who responded, gave tips, wished me well. That was beyond awesome and really did help me.

A aroseforyou for all of you. Thanks again!!! hugs

Wow, good things are going well!! How's the pain now that the anesthetic is gone? I did childbirth naturally 3x and it wasn't "bad", but I'm thinking mouth pain would be way worse. How are you eating?

Reminds me of this one I saw recently:

A root canal is worse. But only because it doesn't reward you like a childbirth does. You got 3 kids, and I still got a sore tooth.
chuckle

But things are going well. Yesterday I started with aspirins before the anesthetic wore off so I did not feel much pain but last night about 4am I woke up because the aspirin had worn off as well. The pain was not that intense but I had to wait till the new aspirin started working before I could sleep again.

Eating goes pretty well. Feels a bit weird but I can eat normal food. No need for a blender and a straw. chuckle

Thanks for asking. hf

I'm a couple of decades from being a 'Senior'.
but after a few drinks, I can see myself doing this. LoL.

----
A senior moment ...

There was a bit of confusion at the grocery store this morning.
When I was ready to pay for my groceries, the cashier said,
"Strip down, facing me."
Making a mental note to complain to my congressman about Homeland Security running amok, I did just as she had instructed.

When the hysterical shrieking and alarms finally subsided,
I found out that she was referring to my credit card.

I have been asked to shop elsewhere in the future.
They need to make their instructions to us seniors a little clearer!
We all breathe the same air.

/\ Too good, too true WNB. /\

This joke was sent to me by just such a seasoned friend...

The Importance of Walking for the Elderly

1. Walking can add minutes to your life. This enables you at 85 years old to spend an additional 5 months in a nursing home at $4,000 per month.

2. My grandpa started walking five miles a day when he was 60. Now he's 97 years old and we have no idea where the hell he is.

3. I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me.

4.The only reason I would take up walking is so that I could hear heavy breathing again.

5. I have to walk early in the morning, before my brain figures out what I'm doing...

6. I joined a health club last year, spent about 250 bucks.
Haven't lost a pound. Apparently you have to go there!

7. Every time I hear the dirty word 'exercise,' I wash my mouth out with chocolate.

8. I do have flabby thighs, but fortunately my stomach covers them.

9. The advantage of exercising every day is so when you die, they'll say, 'Well, he looks good doesn't he.'

10. If you are going to try cross-country skiing, start with a small country.

11. I know I got a lot of exercise the last few years... just getting over the hill.

12. We all get heavier as we get older, because there's a lot more information in our heads. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

13. Every time I start thinking too much about how I look, I just find a pub with a Happy Hour and by the time I leave, I look just fine.

14. You could run this over to your friends, but just e-mail it to them! It will save you the walk!

Re: The hang out...

"In the Air Tonight" remains a popular selection on many classic rock radio stations. It is the song most often associated with Collins' solo career, and he has performed versions of it at many events, notably at Live Aid, where he played the song on a piano on the same calendar day in both Philadelphia and London.[1] He also performed the song at The Secret Policeman's Ball, Collins' first live performance as a solo artist.

The lyrics of the song take the form of a dark monologue directed towards an unnamed person:

I was there and I saw what you did
Saw it with my own two eyes
So you can wipe off that grin
I know where you've been
It's all been a pack of lies

Musically the song consists of a series of ominous chords played over a simple drum machine pattern (the Roland CR-78 Disco-2 pattern, plus some programming); processed electric guitar sounds and vocoded vocals on key words add additional atmosphere. The mood is one of restrained anger until the final chorus when an explosive burst of drums releases the musical tension, and the instrumentation builds to a thundering final chorus. OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:

The Government of the United States today announced that it will be changing the Countries' emblem from the EAGLE to a CONDOM! The reasoning behind this is that the White House feels it more accurately reflects the administration's political stance. A condom allows for inflation, halts production, destroys the next generation, protects a bunch of pricks and gives you a sense of security while you're actually being screwed!

No, I was pretty glad about that as well. Although I probably wouldn't have mind the baby foods. They can be pretty tasty. Hehe

I stopped taking aspirins yesterday and I almost don't feel anything anymore. Considering everything I read about it, I am either lucky or the majority of people who had a root canal didn't have any issues either and didn't feel the need to post it on the internet. I am starting to think it's the latter.

Now the wisdom teeth though.. that is gonna be a completely different story. *Gulp

I feel for you. My oldest daughter is waiting for approval from the insurance to get her teeth extracted, and get false teeth. She should hear something this week. She is losing all of her uppers, and most of the bottom. She just turned 31 a week ago. The dentist could possibly save a few, for now, but she would need a root canal on them. The insurance will not pay for a root canal. They consider it a temporary fix. We are going to have to do battle with the insurance, as they will not pay for general anesthesia, just numbing shots. She had 3 teeth extracted a couple of years ago, which included a front tooth broken off at the gum line, and the insurance refused to pay to get her knocked out. The dentist stuck her repeatedly to keep her numbed up for those 3 teeth. From what I was told, even though she is getting the rest of her teeth extracted all at once, except for the front bottom teeth, the insurance will not pay to get her knocked out. She will be a virtual pin cushion. I think this is absolutely cruel.
