I took my Dad's old car for a spin this afternoon. I was going to drive it to church this morning, but I had a donation run to do after church.I had to take my haul-mobile Buick instead. I only plan on driving that old Caddy once a week, unless my Buick goes down. Gosh, that old Caddy is a total pleasure to drive ! It "floats" on the road, is the only way to describe it !
Yesterday was my husbands 60th birthday. With the kids and grandkids over, it was hectic over here ! I really wanted my husband to take the old Caddy for a spin yesterday, as a treat for his birthday. He hadn't driven it yet. This afternoon, after a cruise in that big boat, I pulled up in the drive, and told my husband, who was sitting on the back patio(we have 2 patio's, a side one and a back one), that he needed to grab his wallet, as it was HIS turn to drive that old car. You all should have seen the ear to ear grin he had on his face when he slipped into the drivers seat ! It made his day, to say the least ! grinning

HAPPY SUNDAY,EVERYONE !!!Smiley

Something about a car that is loved, puts a tear in my eye literally. They take on a personality of their own.

Gosh, they do ! I drove a 1983 Caddillac for many years before I got the Buick. When the engine finally died on that Caddy, I sold it for a couple of hundred dollars to a used car lot/repair place. I bet they put another engine in it, as the body was still real good. It would have cost me thousands to get another engine put in, and it was a lot more economical to get another car.I cried like a baby when the car got taken away. The driver looked at me and said "you must have really loved that car"! FYI, the 1983 Caddillac had an aluminum engine. When the engine went, it had 258,000 miles on it. I cannot complain, I got many years of use out of that car. Gosh, they sure don't make them like they used to !
My 1983 Buick Electra Park Avenue is intimidating. It is a mean looking machine, that handles like a dream. When I bought it over 5 years ago, it was a one owner car with 61,000 original miles on it. I got all of the service papers, and the original title with the lien release stamped on it. It doesn't glide like a Caddy, but the ride is good and the handling is exceptional. That Buick can talk !!!rockon
