Linken Park is in South Africa and my wife and kids are going to the show tonight. I don't like their music that much, some of it is okay but I opted to stay home and rather watch some rugby tonight, with South Africa playing Ireland.

Thank you for the good thoughts ! He really was bad last night. He was as pale as a ghost, and couldn't catch his breath. I had to open some windows for him, to let in some fresh air. He laid down for a couple of hours, and took a short nap, and was feeling better later in the evening. It was really scary.

No. He has no medical insurance, no income. He refuses to go to the doctor or hospital. We are living on my puny check. I have herbal medicines I take for my COPD. I told him to take some, but he will not. They really work for me. I was diagnosed over 6 years ago, and am doing pretty good.
The ONLY way I am going to get him to see a doctor, is if he passes out. THEN I will call an ambulance, or load him into my car, if any of the kids are home to help me load him up. He is the most stubborn man, EVER !!!

So far, the diagnoses has been emphesema. I am sure if he would go to a doctor, COPD would be on the top of the list. Believe it or not, the Social Security doctor was the one who diagnosed the emphesema. I had suspected that for a long time, over a year. My husband has been wheezing real bad at night, and has had problems handling heat and humidity. My husband was born with a heart murmur, also, and I am concerned.
My COPD is the Bronchitus/ Allergic Asthma type. I have had some lung trouble since I was born, pnuemonia and bronchitus almost every year for my entire life. I was a preemie, 3 pounds and 12 inches. The high concentrated oxygen in the incubator that I was in for over a month after birth, damaged my lungs. In 1953, they were not well tuned in their medical procedures as they are now.I needed oxygen, but they gave me too much.

COPD sometimes includes the classifications of emphesema, chronic bronchitus, and asthma. From what I understand about COPD, is that these lung conditions are classified as COPD when they get pronounced. My mother, who will be 90 in January, has a slight case of emphysema, caused mainly by old age. As people age, their lungs lose elasticity.
I was diagnosed with chronic bronchitus and allergy-asthma when I was a kid. 6 years ago, the doctor diagnosed me with COPD. My symptoms became more pronounced.

No oxygen. As bad as I was when I was diagnosed 6 years ago, I SHOULD have been put on oxygen. I am doing very well without it, so far. The only thing I take is herbals, unless I get an infection. Then it is amoxicillin.
I will be 59 on December 9th, and my husband is 60.

Re: The hang out...
hi all;

One can ingest oxygen by drinking it.
I use a cold plasma ozone generator to hyper-oxygenate water.

Ozone exposure is dangerous for soft flesh like eyes,
nose, and mouth and extreme care should be used.

The immediate blast of oxygen aids in CV and muscular recovery as well as being a pre-emptive aid for endurance.

Some folks I have shared this with liken it to speed or cocaine for a few minutes.
My Mom got super light-headed and had to sit down for a minute.
I have never had ill-effects from ozonated water.
There may be some benefit here for others, I do not have any links to anything about this, but that's not to say there isn't info available somewhere. ;-`)
We all breathe the same air.

Re: The hang out...
Tiger all I can offer is advice as a life long asthmatic.

If you can drag him into a clinic. Since your income is low, possably able to get a nebulizer for free on sliding scale maybe... That can save a life if you cant breath. Doc's also usally have inhailers (they are expensive now since the feds made them change) they can give you some small sample ones or get it a clinic sliding scale.

But Cold air usually helps... (unless it is the cold air that set you off) Also turn on a fan. If one gets bad it can turn fatal pretty quick.. If your at a point of passing out you need an Ambulance.... Do not try to take him to the hospital yourself.

Another note... Alot of people get inhailers when they get bornchtis and such... Maybe see if anyone has one laying around they don't need?

Also caffine is a mild bronchodialtor.. and alchohol is relaxing... When you cant breath you get paniced and that only makes it worse... Before all the asthma meds were out hot totties were used alot..

Re: The hang out...
Once again this year, I have had requests for my Tequila Christmas Cake recipe so here goes. Please keep in your files as I am beginning to get tired of typing this up every year! (Made mine this morning!!!!)
1 cup sugar, 1 tsp. baking powder, 1 cup water, 1 tsp. salt , 1 cup brown sugar, Lemon juice, 4 large eggs, Nuts, 1 bottle tequila, 2 cups dried fruit.

Sample a cup of tequila to check quality. Take a large bowl, check the tequila again to be sure it is of the highest quality then Repeat. Turn on the electric mixer. Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl. Add 1 teaspoon of sugar. Beat again. At this point, it is best to make sure the tequila is still OK. Try another cup just in case. Turn off the mixerer thingy. Break 2 eegs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried f
ruit. Pick the fruit up off the floor, wash it and put it in the bowl a piece at a time trying to count it. Mix on the turner. If the fried druit getas stuck in the beaterers, just pry it loose with a drewscriver Sample the tequila to test for tonsisticity. Next, sift 2 cups of salt, or something. Check the tequila. Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts. Add one table. Add a spoon of sugar, or somefink. Whatever you can find. Greash the oven. Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over. Don't forget to beat off the turner. Finally, throw the bowl through the window. Finish the tequila and wipe the counter off with the cat.....

Re: The hang out...
Let re rephrase... If you have ac in your home. Turn it on (even if it is cold outside) have him sit by the vent for like 5-15 min he should notice a difference. The ac takes out the humidity. Humidity is hard to breath. Hence air from the AC will make it eaiser to breath. If no ac in the house hop in your car and do it..

We have a window unit, but it has already been covered and sealed up for the winter. None of our vehicles have air conditioning, except for his truck. I will tell him about this. It is worth a try ! THANK YOU !
He told me earlier today, that it feels like one of his lungs is not working. I urged him to go to the doctor, but he still refuses. He said he is going to die anyway, and will not saddle me with a bunch of medical bills. I told him I do not care, GO TO THE DOCTOR !

Re: The hang out...
Just a IMO.. I would tell him I need a husband not a martyr..

You can live a very long time with Emphysema. A very close friend of the family lived with Emphysema and COPD for like 10-13 years. And they have made alot of advancments since then.

The faster he starts the medication the better the effects and the better he will live... However he keeps doing this he is letting alot of damage happen that is irreversble.

If he is really having trouble breathing call 911. They will talk him into help.
