Do Christians Believe in Destiny?
Do you guys?

If so, wouldnt that mean a higher being planned your life out before hand?

Wouldnt that mean that god personally sends people to hell?

No. God gives us free will, we decide where we end up. God knows where we end up before hand, But he doesnt predestine us to hell. He wants all to be saved and go to heaven, but he knows all will not, by their own choices.

So that means you DO believe in destiny, it is just God who actually knows what your destiny actually is, correct?

No, our destiny is not set, we have a choice where our " destiny" lies if you want to call it destiny. or where we end up.

many here seem positive the world is always about to end.

and the romans stuck the spear of destiny into one of their deities so it is obviously their concept.

Did our souls not have a choice to come down here?

Do you see any contradiction in those two statements? If your destination is not already set, yet God knows where we will end up beforehand....

I don't beleive that there is a specific destiny ........ God gave us free will, it is up to us how to form our lives.

Help me on this:
For a while I've been thinking to change jobs, it's not that I am that bored at work, but I seek to improve my position and possible a better salary.

One of the companies that I applied at, after tests and interviews is interested in my services. I did not commit myself yet and their HR agreed to let me decide about the offer in a couple of days.

Meanwhile, my present boss suspected something, called me at his office and wanted to know what is bothering me at work. He offered me a new package and to settle any differences.

Now I have 3 choices, stay, accept the new job, or an alternative job somewere else.

It is my choice what to do, it is not written. What I beleive is that our Creator knows how humans react to situations, their ambitions, their weaknesses, it's a whole combination of factors that leads us to a decision and God knows how humans react.

So there's a difference from knowing how someone would react and from planning his destiny.
“Our lives are not our own. From womb to tomb, we are bound to others. Past and present. And by each crime and every kindness, we birth our future...”

Yes. Yes. Yes.

Re: Do Christians Believe in Destiny?
I'm afraid you all have a very narrow view of what God is. First God created time and the Bible makes it clear he exists outside of time. The Bible refers to God as dwelling in the eternal present.

Do you know what that means? That means that not only is God omnipresent he is omni-temporal. Thus God has created all time instances 'simultaneously'. This also means you can pray to God with regards to events in the past present or future and it also explains why God knows the future in exquisite detail.

Moreover just because God knows all of your thoughts and what you will choose to do, and whether you will live with him in the eternal present or dwell in the fires of hell forever, does not mean you do not have free will. You have free will precisely because you live in uncertainty. Your quantum wave function, from your perspective has not collapsed. God has placed the constraint of time and the uncertainty it entails for a very good reason.

God only lifts the veil of that uncertainty partly, to reveal his plans and his nature. You on the other hand must presume free will and act accordingly.

Now choose wisely.

It's actually how the scientific theory is able to work in the first place. taking for granted that the results of an experiment will always be the same.

Wow! What a loving example of a "good christian"

BTW - creating a being that he knows is going to fail and then punishing the being for that failure, is not love.

Yes and no.

Destiny is known by God, he knows what you will do with yourself.

But the spirit of God allows your choices and decision making to override all physical and natural laws.

You have free will. Even though God knows where your going.
