I actually checked this out and guess what not only is it legit, they are paying me by the month to yes track what I research, look at and watch on tv! Why should I care if they want to track it since I am not doing anything wrong! Not searching to make drugs or bombs so why not let them pay me. They sent me all kinds of equipment and some one to install it all free of charge, I got a $ 100 for installing and making $50 a month just to have the gear in my house. Unless you are a criminal why not make some cash! MOrons!

you must have been on some crazy sites for them to track your move or even to ask you chuckle !.. money over privacy? I think not!

This is my bosses home mail... shes lives in a pricy condo, very nice area. I don't know if anyone in this area received one of these, but it did say we were "specially selected".

The money is real too! A $2 Dollar bill? SO weird man... never heard of anything like this.

You didn't get it out of the blue, you attention whore. You SIGNED UP for it. You either got the invitation from KN or another survey group you're already participating in.

You had the option of either using the Chrome plug-in, or get the router shipped to you.

Why the drama? You don't get packages sent to you, do you?

Re: Check out what I got in the mail today!! Google wants to track my internet usage!
It's completely legit. They send you the most expensive top of the line wireless router (retail value $400) and send you $150 just for installing it.

Every month they send you a check based upon your usage. The more information they receive, the bigger the check (up a certain amount).

It's simply a survey system that makes it easier for them to calculate data and advertising optimization. Google is asking this company to do the research for them so they can use this with their future products (i.e. Google TV). They're basically lining up to compete with apple and it's product Apple TV.

It's always good to be skeptical about "Free" money but some of you take it too seriously. What you don't realize is that most of you have Facebook accounts and facebook has been doing this since 2006. How do I know, you might ask? Look at the ads on your news feed. They are relevant to your "likes" and "dislikes" as well as your profile information. They have used what you've been looking at or your habits are and basing advertising around it.

In the long run, they're paying you because you're making them A LOT of money. The data they give up is how much time the average person (based on the information you give them about yourself i.e. hispanic, white, 22yr, 38yr, employed, etc.) watches tv and what they are watching and when to maximize revnues or adjust pricing for shows and ads.

It works, we've already made $500 from this in 2 months simply by clicking a button when I watch tv. And the devices they sent us are worth over $2,500 (3 Samsung Galaxy Players, one Cisco Wireless Router)that we keep after the survey. :) All for pushing a few buttons here and there. Fine by me if you ask :D :5a:

Unbelievable! Here is a technical review by CNet:

To me, it sounds like the DNS changer scam; pay users to allow their PC's to be high jacked for profit. It must be legitimate now since its Google...

I received the $2 bill and ignored the letter, then I receieved the 5 singles in a second letter a few days later. They certainly are throwing their money around. Have yet to find anything negative on the net. Definately a question of privacy vs greed. Data mining for sure, question is do I care? Like the one comment said if you aren't searching for sensitive info it shouldn't really matter. People do met analysis of medical records all the time to data mine for trends. My main concern would lie with internet banking and purchases. How much access will they have?

Hahahaha, I work for GfK. There's a very good chance I personally mailed this. This is not a scam at all. We do market research for a lot of companies like Google, Gerber, GE and others. We've sent out products to test like plastic baggies and those crunchy bottles that some water companies use. One of our surveys is for doctors and their checks are HUGE. Some people win iPads for doing surveys. We used to be knowledge networks but recently merged with GfK. Look at BBB for Knowledge Networks. A+ rating.

It's totally legit. I've had my devices since June and was making $65/mo. But just was notified that I was being removed from the program...guess I didn't give them enough info. You DO NOT get to keep the Galaxy tabs or router. The agreement even states that. They are sending me a prepaid label to send their stuff back to them. It was easy money...over $550!!

There is a reason you have to install their equipment. it literally monitors EVERYTHING you've ever searched or saved on your computer and continue to look at. so YES they have all the info you've ever typed. And they've seen all the porn you've searched for Anything you searched, they've seen. But what I don't know is, who they are selecting for this. My mother got a 5 dollar bill in the mail and she's literally never turned on a computer in her life. So how did they select her or where from?
