Young-earthers CLAIM that is what evolutionists claim, but they don't and never have. They stated humans and other primates have a common ancestor, but are not direct descendants of each other. And we do know this. Dr. Miller of the Human Genome project found out humans and chimpanzees have 99.9% the same DNA, and that the .01% difference is because our 1st and second chromosome fused in our ancestors... a mutation which spread from one individual among his progeny, and then over generations of breeding became dominate in the gene pool. Welcome to evolution. Mutations that help the survival carry on in the survivors.
