Anonymous Coward User ID: 2202615 United States 04/21/2012 10:20 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | my personal favorite Another account of the torments of hell is found in Luke 16:19-26: "There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence." Hell is described not only as a fiery place of torment, but also as a separation from God and His saints, a place where there is continual torment. but if you don't like the bible...and want to make up your own...well good luck...lol |

The truth is they are very far from the truth and do nothing but make asses of themselves. Quoting: 1COR15:22 Agree. I went back to Dublin for a few days recently for the first time in over 20 years to find a big change in Catholics. Ireland has gone from ultra religious god-fearing to anything goes, even amongst the most zealous conservative minded, like my aunties who prayed & went to mass daily, have turned their back on religion, disgusted at the peedo priest scandals, bribery, arms dealing, political interference etc. Good on them, they've finally woken up to smell the coffee. I'm surprised then to find America & the rest of the religous world haven't followed suite to ditch religion altogether. |

Hell and hellfire aren't in the original documents and nothing close to the modern defintions of the word hell exists in the original documents. You are basing your belief on an erronious translation. Hell was translated from a host of different words from the original languages non of which mean eternal torment or annihilation. Do you test all things or are you an ignorant sheep? |
Kieri User ID: 1174378 United States 04/21/2012 10:37 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The OP is right, hell is a metaphor for rebirth through fire, the fire is a spiritual fire, that fire is God's Holy Spirit All the words in the bible that cause you to fear are not his work. Simply put they were added by men to create an atmosphere of fear to control weak minds. So go ahead and tell me to fear eternal fire and brimstone, that is your fear talking. God will not bring you closer to him by scaring you into his kingdom. Those passages are designed by Satan to scare you into submission to do whatever the Churches tell you. Satan didn't just limit his work to outside the Bible, and to think "There's NO way The Devil can affect God's work" is actually denying what the Bible says, even the Bible alludes to false teachings in the first five books, Jesus scolded the scribes for keeping certain secrets hidden, even the last passage in the Bible was designed to make you afraid to not believe every single word. Does that sound like a loving God? To say God needs hell to make you love him is to limit His power. God is Love |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 2202615 United States 04/21/2012 10:44 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | What the Bible Says About Hell Key Facts About Eternity (1) Everyone will exist eternally either in heaven or hell (Daniel 12:2,3; Matthew 25:46; John 5:28; Revelation 20:14,15). (2) Everyone has only one life in which to determine their destiny (Hebrews 9:27). (3) Heaven or hell is determined by whether a person believes (puts their trust) in Christ alone to save them (John 3:16, 36, etc.). Key Passages About Hell (1) Hell was designed originally for Satan and his demons (Matthew 25:41; Revelation 20:10). (2) Hell will also punish the sin of those who reject Christ (Matthew 13:41,50; Revelation 20:11-15; 21:8). (3) Hell is conscious torment. Matthew 13:50 “furnace of fire…weeping and gnashing of teeth” Mark 9:48 “where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched” Revelation 14:10 “he will be tormented with fire and brimstone” (4) Hell is eternal and irreversible. Revelation 14:11 “the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever and they have no rest day and night” Revelation 20:14 “This is the second death, the lake of fire” Revelation 20:15 “If anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire” Erroneous Views of Hell (1) The second chance view – After death there is still a way to escape hell. Answer: “It is appointed unto men once to die and after that the judgment” (Hebrews 9:27). (2) Universalism – All are eternally saved. Answer: It denies the truth of salvation through Christ which means that a person decides to either trust in Christ or else he/she rejects Christ and goes to hell (John 3:16;3:36). (3) Annihilationism – Hell means a person dies like an animal – ceases to exist. Answer: It denies the resurrection of the unsaved (John 5:28, etc. – see above). It denies conscious torment (see above). Objections to the Biblical View of Hell THIS IS YOUR ARGUMENT (1) A loving God would not send people to a horrible hell. Response: God is just (Romans 2:11). God has provided the way of salvation to all (John 3:16,17; 2 Corinthians 5:14,15; 1 Timothy 2:6; 4:10; Titus 2:11; 2 Peter 3:9). Even those who haven’t heard of Christ are accountable for God’s revelation in nature (Romans 1:20). God will seek those who seek Him (Matthew 7:7; Luke 19:10). Therefore God doesn’t send people to hell, they choose it (Romans 1:18,21,25). (2) Hell is too severe a punishment for man’s sin. Response: God is holy-perfect (1 Peter 1:14,15). Sin is willful opposition to God our creator (Romans 1:18-32). Our sin does merit hell (Romans 1:32; 2:2,5,6). What is unfair and amazing is that Christ died for our sin and freely offers salvation to all (Romans 2:4; 3:22-24; 4:7,8; 5:8,9). Biblical Terms Describing Where the Dead Are Sheol - a Hebrew term simply describing “the grave” or “death” – Does not refer to “hell” specifically Hades - A Greek term that usually refers to hell – a place of torment (Luke 10:15; 16:23, etc.) Gehenna - A Greek term (borrowed from a literal burning dump near Jerusalem) that always refers to hell – a place of torment (Matthew 5:30; 23:33) “Lake of fire”- the final abode of unbelievers after they are resurrected (Revelation 20:14,15) “Abraham’s bosom” - (Luke 16:22) a place of eternal comfort “Paradise” - (Luke 23:43) a place of eternal comfort “With the Lord” - a key phrase describes where church age believers are after death (Philippians 1:23; 1 Thessalonians 4:17; 2 Corinthians 5:8) “New heavens and earth” – where believers will be after they are resurrected (Revelation 20:4-6; 21:1-4) Conclusion Our curiosity about the abode of the dead is not completely satisfied by biblical terms or verses. What we do know is that either eternal torment in hell or eternal joy in heaven awaits all people after death, based on whether they trust in Christ’s payment for sin or reject Christ. WELL ITS PRETTY CLEAR WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS....BAM!!! GOOD NIGHT ALL....DONT BE FOOLED OR TRICKED...LOOK THIS UP YOUR SELF... |

If you would not be judged then start by learning not to condemn even your enemies- whom we all should pray for! While we are at it let our prayers be for all of the world! |

Jesus warns the people about Hell and he did not design it for people. But if you don’t believe in God and Jesus that is the place you will go to. Be warn this is serious stuff Hell is a bad place where people been tormented for eternity that is the sad thing. You will never get a chance to get out there. Hell is forever. We can't go against Gods judgment. We are there to obey God and do how He said we must do it. He wants children that are obedient to Him in Heaven. And that is the only people who will enter Heaven. The person who love God, and people that is obedient to His Holy Word. Surly we cant go against such a Mighty God. Who are we? God created you and if you rebelled against Him there is a price to pay. God loves men, but He hate's men that try to be wise in their own eyes and minds. Satan did the same with God and He paid a sad prize for it because His time is running out. |
