Re: damn motherf***8's. US government training foreign workers for jobs in English-speaking call centers
I cannot land an IT job! Got laid off from Pepsi (3rd time!!) and my job was given to an Indian from InfoSys. They will work 70 hours a week for half the pay...lowers the standard of living for everyone. I have two kids and student loans to pay...hard to compete with a 22 year old who has no family obligation and is willing to work 12 hour days 6 and 7 days a week. I'm not here for just a few years to make a quick buck - this is my home! So discouraging!! PepsiCo KEEPS laying off Americans and replacing them with people who just arrived here a week prior!! I REFUSE to buy Pepsi and Frito-Lay products as a result of this! The CEO is from India and her brother-in-law owns InfoSys!! Talk about an unethical conflict of interest!!! Where is the S.E.C. ???
 Quoting: Create71

The last company I worked for was acquired by an American equity firm. They dumped 300 of us 90 days in. I was out of work for about 2 months. I'm now making 40% more than I was, working for the 2nd largest employer in AZ. While I was off work the phone was ringing off the hook with recruiters.

Redo your resume...the format that was used 5 years ago doesn't fly these days. Put your key qualifications right at the top, in bold. List as many bullet points as you can.

Leave dates off the resume. They don't need to know when you worked somewhere. Just put the years in. Also, if you're a little older, as I am, don't put the dates you attended high school or college.

BTW, I'm in IT/infrastructure/Desktop, etc.
I only believe half of what I read and even half of that is bullshit.

Re: damn motherf***8's. US government training foreign workers for jobs in English-speaking call centers
India... I always say you can walk in one day as a cleaner and walk out as a manager...and that on the same day.

Every year I see 10's of thousands of jobs being outsourced or transitioned as we say. The first wave 10 years ago was to countries like Ireland and Spain. After a huge IT spike these countries are now on their ass close to bankruptcy. This was a close cooperation between banks and multinationals. Deliberately draining countries from their resources. In the background already a huge portion of the infrastructure went to Asia. And now they are moving the higher level tech jobs to Eastern Europe.

I once asked an employee of an IT firm that had +100.000 people under him if he didn't feel that outsourcing is destroying fair wages and commitment to the country and their employees. And he couldn't answer that question and started to divert my question. All the time I knew he himself was forced to relocate because of the fact that his job was outsourced along with 10K of North American jobs. Sure his salary would've been huge but at was price....

The strategy of getting tax cuts and other state benefits to generate jobs and than leave after the tax exemption is gone is working out fine for these multinationals... It doesnt work out for the country that believed their lies and the folks working in their companies.

This is NOT a North American problem alone, it's hitting Western Europe just as hard. The worst thing is that sure it's cheaper for the company meaning more profit, but because of the lack of quality (due to lack of education or language skills of the "new" employees") it will all collapse one day.

Maybe sooner than one would expect...

(btw. the DOD remark of being a safe job... forget about it I've seen numerous gov accounts being transferred to Asia or other continents.)

1-in other countries people are learning at least 2 languages sometimes 3 in normal colleges and universities while studying their own field.

2-they are going to ERP,SAP,IT courses (serious courses which are expensive) after university to be qualified person

3-They are going to Knowledge Management and Reporting Specialist Courses.rhetoric and gesturing courses.

4-they dont have money but they spend their last money to gain 3-5 certificates and courses to find a god job.

5-and they can accept 1000$ below your wage(at good jobs)

So if u r a young American i advise u to stop partying, eating mcdonalds, playing ps3 all week and do sth for yourselves to make difference or else u will be non-qualified worker in your country....

'cause most locals don't wanna do it, only wanna do work they 'like'... and they ask to high a salary

but is this different than you having your house packed, and your wardrobe, with everything made in Asia by child labor under dangerous circumstances? Maybe all production should be in US then as well, and you should pay the price for it...

US citizens are considered to be terrorists and not to be trusted. They need people they can trust.

Better learn to be a minimalist cause it's going to get real ugly in this country.

THis has nothing to do with being outsourced

and the BUSINESS language of most of the third world is becoming English anyway.

this has nothing to do with it....

it is simply about money and companies can pay less income, and get more hours out of them

In other words, these workers are more willing to live in "slave labor" situations because they are use to it...

12 hour days, 7 days a week while
most americans are still looking for 5 days a week, 8 hour days

Simple about getting more for your buck as far as company profits

I check a certain site, as to layoffs, every day. Almost every day, hospitals and medical centers are laying off people. I'm retired but todays work force must be able to pick up and move. I'd look at North Dakota where oil is booming. But the winters are long and cold..

The jobs are being outsourced to other countries right? So we need to get an education in the jobs that remain. which isnt much.

My company has 100 workers from mainly India sitting in our building here in the US working. All technical jobs.

We're all being snowed.." we don't have enough qualified people".

All a scam

Exactly. When they answer in the "Indian British" accent and tell you " MY name is Kevin" always ask to be transferred back to the states to speak to an American.
