I cannot land an IT job! Got laid off from Pepsi (3rd time!!) and my job was given to an Indian from InfoSys. They will work 70 hours a week for half the pay...lowers the standard of living for everyone. I have two kids and student loans to pay...hard to compete with a 22 year old who has no family obligation and is willing to work 12 hour days 6 and 7 days a week. I'm not here for just a few years to make a quick buck - this is my home! So discouraging!! PepsiCo KEEPS laying off Americans and replacing them with people who just arrived here a week prior!! I REFUSE to buy Pepsi and Frito-Lay products as a result of this! The CEO is from India and her brother-in-law owns InfoSys!! Talk about an unethical conflict of interest!!! Where is the S.E.C. ???

The last company I worked for was acquired by an American equity firm. They dumped 300 of us 90 days in. I was out of work for about 2 months. I'm now making 40% more than I was, working for the 2nd largest employer in AZ. While I was off work the phone was ringing off the hook with recruiters.

Redo your resume...the format that was used 5 years ago doesn't fly these days. Put your key qualifications right at the top, in bold. List as many bullet points as you can.

Leave dates off the resume. They don't need to know when you worked somewhere. Just put the years in. Also, if you're a little older, as I am, don't put the dates you attended high school or college.

BTW, I'm in IT/infrastructure/Desktop, etc.
