Crazyass Loud Boom Heard From Stockton To Lake Tahoe This Morning

Must have been a big meteor

It happened about an hour ago. I thought my propane tank blew up outside but then my friend who was over 20 miles away called to ask if i heard the boom. Thats when I checked twitter and others are reprting the same thing.

Something big happened today. I want to know what the hell it was.

RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) – A large boom was heard Sunday morning around 8:00am around Northern Nevada and the Sierra.

Washoe County Sheriff’s Dispatchers tell News 4 they have received calls from “everywhere” including the Reno metro area to as far away as Incline Village.

Yes. I heard it too. About About 50 miles west of Sacramento here.

UPDATE: A number of people in the Sierra around El Dorado County have reported they saw what they believed to be a meteor just before the sound.

Yup, heard it in Jackson, too! Been looking on the computer for something about it and the Motherlode News said that police think it was a comet entering our atmosphere creating a sonic boom. I think that's a bunch of huey! It carried on for way too long!

Have heard those here, last one was huge..made me jump a mile could feel it right through the house and under the house, sounded just like a big explosion.

So the question remains was it really a meteor OR was that BOOM a sign of impending DOOM ??

Having once found fresh dinosaur tracks, I wouldn't doubt it.

It was more like a rumble than a smack and it carried on a long time as the sound diminished. Maybe 10 to 15 seconds.

I can say I'm in FLA and last night there was an "BOOM" that sounded like an explosion.... so loud it brought everyone out to the balcony to look...even the old people who can't hear without their hearing aides... it was friggin' loud. Sounded like a bomb went off.

They say a meteor but they're just guessing.

I'm not aware of too much mining around here. The sound I heard gave the impression that it's source was not deep in the ground. From apparent witnesses it is sounding like it was a meteor impact. The op from the other thread reported seeing a streak.

i'm in oakland, must have slept thru it or we didn't hear it here.

NOT guessing. It's a a quick and easy cover story most likely.

But the TRUTH will be revealed even more OBVIOUSLY if the rumbling continues.

Read the eyewitness reports....this thing must have been huge.
You think they would be able to track down the impact site.
