Alabama EQs continue. 159 quakes NW of Birmingham starting 4/20/2012. Update 12/21

cannot see any history of this happening before. 5 quakes in appox 24 hours is unheard of around these parts.

watching that New Madrid as well.

watching the same thing. We are just north of there in HSV. They are not being shown on the other sites, just like the ones in northern MN.

yep, huntsville area myself. USGS didnt post these quakes as of yet. they may just have to wait and see.

there was also a 3.2 mag on April 16th?

Hey Everyone, I am just a little North East of Huntsville, but have kids at UA. I have been watching this too and it is worrisome. It is going to be difficult getting out of the area down there if anything serious happens.

It is giving me warm fuzzies to know there are some Alabamians on GLP. Lol

would not be a pretty picture thru there if something large hit. imagine if what happened in 1916 happened now.

I totally agree with you on that. I worry about it often because getting in or out of B'ham on 65 will be impossible. It is one of the reasons I watch GLP and other sites so much, hoping maybe I can get a heads up before something goes down. Of course, the kids just call me a doomtard and don't take it seriously. Lol

yes, or blame them on fracking and dont even report them at all. hell, i dont care what causes them if the freakin Earth shakes we'd like to know.

If it does hit hard, 59's gonna be a parking lot. So is 65. Malfunction Junction won't hold up to a serious quake.

Our best bet, if the roads are impassable, is to catch to one of the rail lines, and follow it out. That or one of the ridge lines and follow them. Red Mountain is on the same ridge as my neighborhood, all I have to do is follow it ^_^.

i like how some people give out one stars. the dats speaks for itself here. these are state of the art stations the ANF has put out all up and down the central United States. deal with it!!

If and when the SHTF 65 will be out of the question for many, it will almost look like the evac after Katrina in NO. the only real option for us down lower is Atlanta or Mississippi. I feel there will be no goin North as the sheep will be have the interstate locked down. Best of luck if it comes to that until then ROLL TIDE

For those in B'ham that need to head NE. Take University -> L on Lakeshore -> L. on Overbrook -> R. on Montevallo Rd.

That route avoids the rough areas of town, and there are very few bridges to cross.

From the NG Armory -> Racetrack Rd. it's 14 miles. Doable in a day on foot.

Lol, hell the sheep won't lock it down, but you can bet your bottom dollar that Fultondale and their Police Chief's APC will have everything N. of Walker's Chapel Rd. exit blocked off. That is if the first 31 exit you hit isn't the main chokepoint.

I expect most of the outlying municipalities will attempt to stem the flow where they can.

Look for checkpoint to be at 459/65, 59/20, 20/459, 59/459 N/S , 65 @ 1st ext 31N. It's what I'd do. Also on surface streets, where applicable.

Next time you're going through B'ham via interstate, look at the range of Line of Sight you have from overpasses down the interstates. Only place 'cept ALPWR easements that you have a clear LOS for more than 1500M. That's where they'll post up.

Little ol' quake won't stop the Iron Bowl for more than one season, even if it means the Tide and Tigers have to wagon train to a field to play. Somethings are too important to let catastrophic disasters get in the way of.

Good info. I figured B'ham and Montgomery will go on lock down real quick what I meant by the sheep locking it down i meant via traffic jam just to clarify. 65/85 will be shut down as Maxwell is just right there as well as Gunter Anex. Best of Luck.
