Quoting: DUCM900 If you do a web search, you'll find lot of garbage disnfos such it happens every 13 months or every 2 years as well. Now before answer properly, at least you need to know what is the real definition of a conjunction which has a clear explanation. There is more than one definition of conjunction here. Longitude or right ascension. But the answer will be the same. There are 93 conjunctions of Venus and Jupiter between Jan 1, 2001 and Jan 1, 2101. Every 13 months. From Solex 11.0 ( I just ran it). [link to chemistry.unina.it] I'll post the output file, and you can compare to the NASA eclipse page. Here are some: Date, time, and degree of separation at conjunction. 2001/08/05 22:51:00 1.19371 2002/06/03 23:12:35 1.63638 2003/08/21 10:24:14 0.52956 2004/11/05 02:11:37 0.54814 2005/09/01 23:31:31 1.22645 2006/11/15 20:36:13 0.42958 2008/02/01 11:34:29 0.58949 2008/12/01 08:45:40 2.01327 2010/02/17 02:15:18 0.53495 2011/05/11 14:43:11 0.56795 2013/05/28 19:29:58 0.99939 2014/08/18 05:22:25 0.1983 2015/07/01 07:51:54 0.34482 2015/10/25 20:04:17 1.03222 2016/08/27 22:29:43 0.06668 2017/11/13 08:16:39 0.26212 2019/01/22 12:26:58 2.40873 2019/11/24 13:34:37 1.40581 2021/02/11 15:00:45 0.43032 2022/04/30 21:15:05 0.23043 2023/03/02 05:37:03 0.48964 2024/05/23 08:30:20 0.19055 |

Quoting: DUCM900 In astronomy, the definition of a planetary conjunction is whenever two planets pass each onother. SO there are two specific cases: - superior conjunction - inferior conjunction Period. Pass each other from what perspective? Venus and Mercury reach inferior conjunction (from our perspective) when they have the same geocentric longitude as the Sun, and are closer to us than the Sun. An outer planet cannot reach inferior conjunction. In a superior conjunction their geocentric longitudes are also the same as the Sun but they are farther from us than the Sun. But those terms are not used in reference to the positions of two planets as seen from Earth, which is what is the issue in this post. According to Astronomical Algorithms, by Jean Meeus, By definition, conjunction is the phenomenon in which two bodies have the same apparent right ascension or celestial longitude as viewed from a third body (generally the Earth.)
