Venus and Jupiter Conjuntion Rates Disinfo

The shills already PROMISSED that the brightness of Venus will start to reduce from the middle of THIS week (Wednesday, I guess).

If the brightness doesn't reduce, and Venus keeps very bright, I will tell the shills to FUCK OFF!

There is more than one definition of conjunction here. Longitude or right ascension. But the answer will be the same.

There are 93 conjunctions of Venus and Jupiter between Jan 1, 2001 and Jan 1, 2101. Every 13 months. From Solex 11.0 ( I just ran it). [link to chemistry.unina.it]

Note: mine were conjunctions in ecliptic longitude, when the longitudes were the same. Another definition uses for a reference a plane though the equator of the Earth (the equatorial system).

I made a mistake, only including conjunctions with the planets were within 3 degrees of each other. Without that restriction, there are 100, not 93, in the century. One per year.

In astronomy, the definition of a planetary conjunction is whenever two planets pass each onother.

SO there are two specific cases:

- superior conjunction

- inferior conjunction

Period.

Pass each other from what perspective?

Venus and Mercury reach inferior conjunction (from our perspective) when they have the same geocentric longitude as the Sun, and are closer to us than the

Sun. An outer planet cannot reach inferior conjunction. In a superior conjunction their geocentric longitudes are also the same as the Sun but they are farther from us than the Sun.

But those terms are not used in reference to the positions of two planets as seen from Earth, which is what is the issue in this post.

According to Astronomical Algorithms, by Jean Meeus, By definition, conjunction is the phenomenon in which two bodies have the same apparent right ascension or celestial longitude as viewed from a third body (generally the Earth.)

Fun fact: Venus and Jupiter are in conjunction (in longitude) with respect to the Sun 155 times from Jan. 1, 2001 to Jan. 1, 2101.
