Thing is we are already spread too thin even if we engage in this area. If they are Iranian waters, then they are fully within their rights to do so and as such, we should comply just as we expect them to comply with our regulations in our waters.

Being as these are Iranian territorial waters it is reasonable to assume that they would want to oversee and safegaurd them for the passage of world shipping and commerce. It would not be unlikely that they would prevent any kind of militarization of this area.
