The autoignition temp. is 450 deg. F. No fires were spontaneously caused by the alleged spill.

This is definitely a cover story for something else happening. The first thing I clued into was the alleged fires caused by the spilled sulfur. First of all, the flash point of sulfur is 405 deg. F? Nothing could have caused the alleged sulfur spill to ignite outside of some external ignition source being directly applied, like a road flare for example. Flash point is the minimum temp. at which a given substance will "flash" and only in the presence of a constant ignition source. I have expertise in this field.

Hi guys I'm the OP that started this thread. I just got my Internet back up. It went down after I posted my last post. My dsl and cell phone Internet all went down. I've been with at&t for hours. I've heard every story why it was down from "I canclled my service" to "outages" but my neighbors and everyone else who has AT&T are fine. WTF is going on????? I must be posting stuff I shouldn't be saying??? WTF???
Anyhow I got back on after having to resetting my dsl and cell phones. A pain in the ass trying figure this all out but I'm back but probably not for long if I keep posting what I'm seeing here.

Wouldn't be difficult to torch off a few small spot fires, assuming this was an orchestrated maneuver, but I doubt there even were fires? No FD personnel would be party to starting diversionary fires and putting them out, unless somehow they were far removed from the scene and told they were conducting a controlled burn. Fires are not easily put out in these areas unless control measures are already in place. Just look at all the forest fires that have occurred historically in the Yosemite region.

I will post more stuff as I find it here. Something freaky I saw on our local news was the video that came out of the supposed spill. It looked like a hoax from the images they showed. Guys standing around shoveling dirt with little protection on them.

Do you remember i think maybe a month or two ago down in the states and im sorry i cant remember where but sulfur was being pushed up from under ground? i remember seeing something on you tube they filmed all around city, it was really amazing, and authorities had no idea what to say it was covered by a local news team and never made mainstream... this story reminded me of that.... so if they are saying it was a spill im not buying it at all not after the article i read and the youtube vid. please look this up if you would like to know more this is definatley alarming..... anyway much love

Re: Major doom in Yosemite
I just gleaned some interesting information from another GLP thread that is linked below:

Thread: SIERRA FIREBALL DECODED: - Energy is estimated at a whopping 3.8 kilotons of TNT - Energy source triangulated

Apparently, scientists were able to find out which monitoring stations had received the greatest infrasound signals and then triangulated the location of the breakup of the minivan-zizd meteor that exploded over the Sierra Nevada mountains yesterday.

The source of the 3.8 kilotons of energy that were released with the disintegration of the bolide was tracked to a position of 37.6N, 120.5W.

If you look at where the bolide is indicated to be on the map that is at the following link, it is clear that the bollide broke up at a fairly low altitude and in a position that is not very far from Yosemite.

[link to www.spaceweather.com]

There is definitely more to this story.

I believe OP is on the eastern side of the Sierras and this is where the "sulphur spill" occurred and the activity is taking place. Someone correct me if I am wrong. However, there is also a thread about alot of aircraft activity on the western side.

The Feds are having major involvement with this. I think it's a cover story. We've been having booms and metor sightings in this area for the past couple days. I think something major is going down.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14535292

Chemical spill closes Highway 41 near Fish Camp

SIX HUNDRED bags of sulfur were spilled on the road.

The sulfur sparked a number of small fires on and next to the road.

[link to www.fresnobee.com]

Really?

First, why did SIX HUNDRED bags spill onto the road?

You'd think the driver of the ruck would have noticed there was a problem when even ONE bag of sulfur fell out of the truck.

Even IF SIX HUNDRED bags of sulfur did fall from a moving truck onto the road, I find it hard to believe that more than ten percent of the bags (SIXTY bags) broke open upon impact.

Of most concern with this story is the fact that sulfur, though a flammable substance, does not have a high level reaction to normal air or oxygen and will not combust on contact with either element.

One must also keep in mind that sulfur deposits are found naturally in areas around hot springs and in the majority of volcanic regions.

[link to wiki.answers.com]

Has Yosemite become volcanically active and the government is trying to keep knowledge of that development away from the public?

BTW, burning sulfur is often referred to as "Fire and Brimstone".
