Ok, let me try this again . . .

Can anyon explain the significance of the increased seismic activity with the "sulfur" event at Yosemite?

What are you supposing that was really all about?

What is the "cover-up" if there is one?

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1305118

Please explain?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 15131093

In simple terms......

At the moment we have a swarm happening in the caldera, sulfur is naturally found at these areas.

When there is activity, sulfur can be released and be smelt in the air....

Before the swarm started, there was an apparent incident on the 23rd April, apparently 600 bags of sulfur had come off the back of a lorry, actually at the Yosemite entrance.

Basically, there could be a lot of activity at Long Valley, more than usual. This could lead to sulfur being released and local people smelling it...

So, to hide the fact that there may be something going at the Caldera, they decided to drop 600 bags of sulfur off the lorry or make the story up, this is to convince the locals & visitors that the sulfur they are smelling is from the incident and not from the real reason, the activity ongoing in the caldera itself...........

Hence, this is all possibly a cover up....

PIN! Such BS. Should I get out the regs on the handling of hazardous materials? Even if the guy was drunk AND woefully lost, the bags should not have been on the truck in such a manner as to just be flying off. No way, no how.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 12844224

The bags would never be shipped unsecured and uncovered, if only to protect them from the elements.

I agree. As i said a few times tonight, Perhaps it wasn't a meteor at all. Maybe something shot out of the ground hence the explosion/boom.

Also, that would explain the part of the "story" that puzzled so many - which is why the bags were alleged to have been transported without being secured or enclosed.

Re: Major doom in Yosemite
I used to live just a couple miles from the sulphur spill (Cedar Valley)and I don't understand why they would spill the sulphur at Fish Camp to disguise the smells from Long Valley.

Even though the distance is only 50 to 60 miles as the crow flies from Fish Camp to Devil's Post Pile & Mammoth Lakes (Long Valley) there are huge mountains in between them with no direct roads (other than maybe logging roads) except Tioga Pass to get to 395 which is a long drive around. And there is no way sulphur from Long Valley would be smelled by people in fish camp unless the volcano had actually erupted.

To disguise the sulphur smell they should have staged a spill at Mammoth instead or somewhere nearby on hwy. 395.

If this was a staged spill it would have to be for a volcano on the Yosemite side. There are small, dormant volcanoes on that side but no activity for ages as far as I know.

It's a guess, but Fish Camp is closer to the Valley which gives plausibility to the story that the Sulphur was for ag reasons. There would be no reason for a truckload of Sulhpur to be on 395 or anywhere else East of the mountains this time of year.

Just to clarify for those who aren't familiar with the local parlance, the use of the Valley refers to the central valley, in this case, the Fresno area, since that is where the rig was supposedly headed, and not Long Valley, which is across the Mountains to the East of the spill.
