Those old civil defense geigers aren't what you need. They are only good if there is over a rad. You want something newer and digital that measures in increments. You can find them on ebay, the russian ones are good. Dosimeter is better than those old yellow geigers.

You should be able to find a decent counter for around 250US.

Re: Fasciated Mutations in Dandelions near Michigan
Fasciation isn't doom.
It's been happening forever.

This odd growth is called fasciation, which literally translates to banding or bundling. Fasciation is thought to be caused by a hormonal imbalance. In some cases, this imbalance could be a random genetic mutation or, in other cases, induced by one or more environmental factors, including bacteria, fungi, virus, insects, frost and physical damage to the growing point.

The good news is that fasciation itself is not "contagious" and does not spread through a planting. And just because a particular plant exhibited fasciation one season does not necessarily mean it will again in the future. In most cases, fasciation is just a random
oddity.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14868676

Random is no longer valid. The fact that there are MANY cases and spread out all over the world would rule out regular old fasciation.

Or it could be fasciation caused by, oh crap. You won't believe me, anyway.

Look here:

[snip]

The cause of fasciation is varied, but not well understood. In some cases this irregular growth is apparently triggered by infection (by bacteria, viruses or phytoplasmas), feeding by insects or other animals, chemicals or mechanical damage. Fasciated dandelion.Somatic mutations, hormonal imbalance, and environmental causes such as extreme weather have also been implicated, but in most instances fasciation appears by chance with no obvious cause. In some plants a single recessive gene controls this condition, although the degree of expression is often very dependent on environmental conditions.

I've seen this before on other plants here in Oklahoma.

Was told it was due to a bacteria.

I'm pretty sure we are not doomed.

Things like this happen normally in nature. I remember seeing one just like that two years ago in Oregon.

I've also seen the same thing in strawberries, pumpkins, and peaches. Spend some more time in nature, you will be surprised how everything isn't uniform like they have it in the grocery store.

If any of you have been watching the jet stream since the tsunami, Michigan tends to be in the path of everything from japan at a rate of about 65-75% of the time.

With that, these mutations are of no surprise in Michigan. Keep your eye on the jet stream people! Stay inside if it rains if you can.

Re: Fasciated Mutations in Dandelions near Michigan
I live on the WA coast. Closer than most of you to the Fukushima bullshit. I've owned my house for about 3 years, this is my fourth summer here. Anyways, when I bought the house the lawn was nothing but super long dandelions. Over the last three years I have been very diligent about plucking them everyday as new ones pop up. My point is, I have NOT noticed any odd dandelions. I have literally pulled well over a thousand over the last three years, and probably a couple hundred this year so far. Pain in the ass to get rid of. I will say though, that my lawn and other vegetation are more robust and larger than before Fukushima. My yard is a nice dark green since last year, and I don't fertilize because we compost. So, perhaps the jet stream is dumping radiation elsewhere that is mutating the vegetation, but here at my place nothing odd yet. Good post OP, a good heads up.

I live in Wayne County. I just walked through my backyard and checked out the 30 or so doomdelions I've got. They all seem to be quite normal.
If you're wondering why I have so many it's because I haven't cut my grass in almost two weeks due to surgery. ;-)

I've been finding 2 headed dandelions in Macomb County, MI.

They are not split, but fused together. Interesting....

More mutations today in Dearborn, Michigan:

Sure things mutate, but the frequency of these findings in light of Fukushima is what is so concerning. Leuren Moret predicted this a year ago.

This is an EXTREMELY important thread - I wish people would pay attention to this stuff and less to the religious and alien/nbiru nonsense. This is the stuff that's going to kill us and destroy the world.

Can this be Fukushima?

Great job, OP!!!
