That's okay. At least my brain is not fried from watching "Baby Boy" and Tyler Perry's Greatest Drag Hits on BET all day. I can take your criticism just fine because I stand by my words always. Now, if you enjoy BET, there is no need to get mad. More power to you...

Re: how is Black Entertainment Television BET not racist?
It's kinda like the Muslims instilling in their children the hatred for Israelites. Blacks in America instill in theirs a hatred for whites due to their inability to rise on their own. Someone always has to be the reason. Massive insecurity in that ethnicity.

As far as the BET... absolutely. I will refer to the bible where it states that during the times of the end, good will be evil and evil, good. Everything is upside down in the world today. What is right is wrong & vice versa. This type of reverse discrimination/psychology is indicative of how those who seek to take advantage of this negative reinforcement are being drawn deeper and deeper into the clutches of Satan.

Be forwarned

For all those who want to talk about BET and such, they actually had programs such as Teen Summit and other things that were good for the community, but then they were sold and it became a travesty of a channel.

I've seen some amazingly racist posters here and one thing I notice is that they don't actually do much but complain. They don't make points, they don't make you think. They just say blanket statements and don't even try to explain them.

I wonder what goes through some of these people's minds...

Relevant.
The world is like a ride in an amusement park, and when you choose to go on it you think it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. The ride goes up and down, around and around, it has thrills and chills, and it's very brightly colored, and it's very loud, and it's fun for a while. Many people have been on the ride a long time, and they begin to wonder, "Hey, is this real, or is this just a ride?" And other people have remembered, and they come back to us and say, "Hey, don't worry; don't be afraid, ever, because this is just a ride." And we … kill those people. "Shut him up! I've got a lot invested in this ride, shut him up! Look at my furrows of worry, look at my big bank account, and my family. This has to be real." It's just a ride. But we always kill the good guys who try and tell us that, you ever notice that? And let the demons run amok … But it doesn't matter, because it's just a ride. And we can change it any time we want. It's only a choice. No effort, no work, no job, no savings of money. Just a simple choice, right now, between fear and love. The eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your doors, buy guns, close yourself off. The eyes of love instead see all of us as one. Here's what we can do to change the world, right now, to a better ride. Take all that money we spend on weapons and defenses each year and instead spend it feeding and clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would pay for many times over, not one human being excluded, and we could explore space, together, both inner and outer, forever, in peace.

Wow you are a fucking idiot!!

MTV and other channels would NOT show black videos. Part of the reason BET was created was to be able to put black artist on tv because other people would not. The reason the channel had to be made is a lot more racist than the fucking channel (which is not racist because they have always ALSO had white artist on it too).

"Black Entertainment Television (BET, part of BET Networks) is an American, Viacom-owned cable network based in Atlanta, Georgia. Currently viewed in more than 90 million homes worldwide, it is the most prominent television network targeting young African American audiences. The network was launched on January 25, 1980"

"MTV, an initialism of Music Television, is an American network based in New York City that launched on August 1, 1981."

How is it that BET was created because MTV wouldn't show Black videos, when BET was launched in early 1980 and MTV was launched in mid-1981. Did they have a time machine?

It's also weird, 'cause I loved MTV when I was a kid and MTV is THE thing that introduced me to:

Michael Jackson
Prince
Cameo
The Mary Jane Girls
Run DMC
Billy Ocean
Chaka Khan
Lionel Richie
Whitney Houston

countless others

MTV went on exposing me to Seal, Public Enemy, Boys 2 Men, Bell, Biv, Devoe, C+C Music Factory, Snap!, Living Colour, Sir Mixalot....thousands of songs by Black artists...

Yeah, that's rough, how those racist MTV execs wouldn't ever play music made by Black people.

I've never understood this complaint about "not enough minorities on TV".
What percentage of White people, in your town, get to be local news anchors?
What percentage of White people get to be famous movie or television stars?

It's an insanely tiny percentage of the whole.

Now, what percent of the citizens are minorities?

Well, by definition, they're a smaller percentage of the whole.

So it makes all the sense in the world that, only a tiny percentage of the people will make it to TV/film, so, in the microcosm...the minorities represented there will still be a smaller percentage OF the tiny percentage that made it to TV/film.

BET was created to support black music because other programs did not promote their music MTV was just one channel that did not promote black music

Heres a quote

To say it took some prodding to get MTV to play “Billie Jean,” the second track from Michael Jackson’s 1982 album Thriller, would be an understatement, according to some reports. Released Jan. 2, 1983, the single would go on to top the Billboard 100 chart for seven weeks, but CBS Records Group President Walter Yetnikoff had to threaten to remove all other CBS videos from MTV before the network agreed to air the video for “Billie Jean,” reported Rolling Stone.

I asked why I cant join the Im white group and why they dont have it. THey all just sat there like in shock that someone would even mention such a thing. I told them I would pass on joining anything till they could come up with something that was more like me.

1st empty life for anyone who wastes their time caring and being outrage about this. Loser.

As far as why it isn't considered racist. Blacks are ten percent of the country, every other channel is geared towards whites, so that's why nobody cares except for those few that I considered losers.

Now if there was a white et then no it would not be considered racist unless they showed racist content since those are things that would be considered racist.

But if some media people wants to show black people dancing around, then who the hell is going to care but some loser that probably recentest that they're not getting attention.

You tried hard and I appreciate it.

You hung way too long on the MTV thing. The point I was trying to make about that had nothing to do with the release dates. MTV didn't even want to play black music until they were basically FORCED to play Michael Jackson. You are right, MTV did come out after..which should actually show you that what I said is true. BET was created because other stations refused to show black artist and entertainers. Even after BET was created there were networks that still refused (MTV).

There is pretty big difference between having some black people's material shown...and refusing to show any. That was the problem. Nobody even asked for there to be an even amount of each race on tv...that would be a ridiculous request anyway. But when someone says I refuse to show any black material on my channel, that becomes a problem.

Keep in mind that anything that white people have complained about being exclusively black never are (outside of certain scholarships, grants, etc.)Your so called black colleges allowed white students. Your so called black channels, have white people on all the time. White people were never excluded from these things. That is not the same from channels, schools, jobs, etc that white people actually, purposely excluded blacks from.

I consider myself a liberal, OP, and i wouldnt call BET racist in the core, but in the end it is just as ignorant as how many white conservatives in the USA react on black people.

Hiding behind your skin colour as something that unites you with other people, has never worked for me, wether it comes from white or black people (what about the mixed ones?...)

I can understand the sentiment behind BET, but at the same time it results in something very fake. It might have worked in the 1950's or '60's, when racial issues were very polarized, but nowadays i think its an attrocity, reverse racism by black people IMO.

There is no such thing as reverse racism number one. 2. BET has been around for years. Would it make you all feel better if the name was changed? If you understand the sentiment behind it when it was created, what is your issue with it now?

Do you mean BET should change its name now to make people feel more comfortable? Why? Is this another way for people to try and pretend that racism does not exist? Well you just said in your post it does. I very seriously doubt a station named BET is making it any worse.

If BET were aimed at Africans in America who spoke anything other than English, then I wouldn't call the channel racist. However, the channel is aimed at people based on the color of their skin, not the language they speak. The channel IS RACIST. Channels like Telemundo are NOT aimed at brown colored people but people who SPEAK another language other than English - Spanish.

Don't give this crap that there are no black television shows on regular broadcasting stations, or that there are no black people who have the lead role in "white shows." Stop acting like every channel that isn't BET has ONLY whites in their television shows. Stop acting like the black community is still being repressed and underrepresented. It's all a bunch of false bullshit and you all know it. There are tons of black NBA stars (LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, etc.), NFL stars (RGIII, Reggie Wayne, Randy Moss, Willis McGahee, etc.), black musicians (the whole hip-hop culture which was started by artists like Mos Def), black people in politics (Condoleezza Rice, and Colin Powell to name a couple), black people in television/movies (Will Smith anyone?). We have a black President (who I voted for) for Christ's sake.

If people want this racial crap to end...where we have only ONE race, the HUMAN race, then they should stop segregating themselves with this STUPID CRAP. Stop being "proud to be (insert color)." Instead, be proud to be apart of the HUMAN RACE. STOP SEPARATING YOURSELVES BASED ON THE COLOR OF YOUR SKIN.

TLDR: Don't be ignorant, BET is RACIST. Stop with this racial crap and recognize there's only ONE race, the HUMAN race.

Uh, this guy soundly beat you about the face and neck.. he got you.. bullseye.. hit the nail on the head.. sorry, I'm running out of ways to say "you got served," better? You're back-stepping. You said BET was created because predomininantly MTV wouldn't air black artists.. he refuted.. he won. What's the problem with a culture who wasn't about smacking bitches and knocking up ho's being apprehensive about airing that kind of shit? We can't have our culture, because you don't fucking agree with it. You don't want a "dictionary" or "social responsibility" or "morals and values." Look it up, BET would've been relevant in the 50's and 60's, the fact of the matter is it's not relevant now. (jesus christ, leave out the fact that these networks are owned by whites, even though some aren't.. the fact is that I'm not seeing any of that FUCKING MONEY, so how the fuck are ALL white people responsible for a few elitists running things?) It's like a black man going to China and asking "Well what the fuck, every other month of the year is Chinese history" or "every other channel is filled with Chinese people" LMFAO YOU MORONS. What, this isn't our country? Whether you like it or not, was this country not founded by a bunch of old white guys? Like it or not, are there still more dirty evil white people (who have no idea they are either dirty or evil, they just work, raise there families, and feel bad about minorities) than black people, so common sense would dictate MORE WHITE SHIT (dumbing it down for the retards). Jesus christ, your stupidity knows no bounds, and your ignorance and hatred know no bounds as well.. you and people like you make me sick.
And one last point, like it or not, there are MANY black people who are ashamed primarily of other black people, you know, the ones that perpetuate the "Anyone else's fault but mine" ideal. You and everyone like you should die now, so we can move forward as a society.

Here in Charlotte, city council voted against a budget that would extend the light rail line to JC Smith Univeristy (predominately black). Never mind the fact that it's in a rough part of town and bringing a rail line would not benefit the fiscally-stretched city at all; there were immediately cries of racism, "the white man wants to keep us isolated" bullshit.

We built a black-only area, isolating ourselves, and now we're pissed that you won't spend millions to integrate us.
