You know, I did a casual and honest observation of my own people that was largely prompted by the shit I read on GLP. I can assure you guys, what you hate about ignorant you know whats, we loathe and fucking detest about ignorant you know whats. One example of the ignorance I encountered: I was in the supermarket yesterday, looking for a decent brand of green tea to try, and fellow woman with dark skin said quite loudly to her man, "Look at that high yellow bitch. I guess normal tea ain't good enough for that hoe, she gotta drink some old other shit." It took everything in my power not to burst out laughing. Because I enjoy decent quality tea, not some powdered tea in a chemically treated bag, I had to be that barrage of names.

This is the kind of shit you come to expect from the you know whats as a NORMAL black person. Ignorance. You see, the kind of people who watch BET are the "crab in a barrel" type of individuals. They hate to see another person trying to better themselves or want better for themselves. That channel is their entertainment, and I see it as a necessary evil, because if you take BET away, those poor idiots will probably pick up a book...and *gasp* maybe even learn to write or do something other than gossiping about some dick they had from the club last night or related bullshit. Please for the love of all that is holy, white folks, stop lumping ALL of us in the same box. Not everyone with dark skin has the same culture. I'm black, I grew up in inner city Miami, and I've been around the music and entertainment biz. After 1998, BET turned to shit. It became so blatant in what they wanted to do to black "culture" that I pulled the plug on watching it. Some blacks are just ignorant , but that is all people of all cultures. I was lucky, I had a family who encouraged me to read the library of books in my house rather than go outside and get into stupid stuff.

whites still run the enteratinment biz, so they will always have blacks as the leads. It's just a fact. If whites are so offended by BET and other "ethnic" channels, I guess I should be offended by every other channel period, and especially ones like "honky tonk tv"...

People don't get how deep the Boondocks is. My own husband won't give the show a chance because he calls it "racist" due to the gratuitous use of the N word. It's realism, not racism. I wish I could make everyone watch the more profound episodes of the Boondocks.

People get so caught up on what they think they are hearing, they stop listening. It's a great show. I know a lot of people that won't give it a chance either. My mom did, and that amazed me...

MTV and other channels would NOT show black videos. Part of the reason BET was created was to be able to put black artist on tv because other people would not. The reason the channel had to be made is a lot more racist than the fucking channel (which is not racist because they have always ALSO had white artist on it too).
