that is because even during the 80's WHITES would not allow black videos on MTV until Michael Jackson's Thriller DUMBASSES
Quoting: truthseeker101 14677524 Not allow? You retard there was no BET in the 80's.
And what does that have to with BET anyway? Two wrongs don't make a right, unless your black of course.
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1110904 Wow you are a fucking idiot!!
MTV and other channels would NOT show black videos. Part of the reason BET was created was to be able to put black artist on tv because other people would not. The reason the channel had to be made is a lot more racist than the fucking channel (which is not racist because they have always ALSO had white artist on it too).
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 12498390 "Black Entertainment Television (BET, part of BET Networks) is an American, Viacom-owned cable network based in Atlanta, Georgia. Currently viewed in more than 90 million homes worldwide, it is the most prominent television network targeting young African American audiences. The network was launched on January 25, 1980"
"MTV, an initialism of Music Television, is an American network based in New York City that launched on August 1, 1981."How is it that BET was created because MTV wouldn't show Black videos, when BET was launched in early 1980 and MTV was launched in mid-1981. Did they have a time machine?
It's also weird, 'cause I loved MTV when I was a kid and MTV is THE thing that introduced me to:
Michael Jackson
Prince
Cameo
The Mary Jane Girls
Run DMC
Billy Ocean
Chaka Khan
Lionel Richie
Whitney Houston
countless others
MTV went on exposing me to Seal, Public Enemy, Boys 2 Men, Bell, Biv, Devoe, C+C Music Factory, Snap!, Living Colour, Sir Mixalot....thousands of songs by Black artists...
Yeah, that's rough, how those racist MTV execs wouldn't ever play music made by Black people.
I've never understood this complaint about "not enough minorities on TV".
What percentage of White people, in your town, get to be local news anchors?
What percentage of White people get to be famous movie or television stars?
It's an insanely tiny percentage of the whole.
Now, what percent of the citizens are minorities?
Well, by definition, they're a smaller percentage of the whole.
So it makes all the sense in the world that, only a tiny percentage of the
people will make it to TV/film, so, in the microcosm...the minorities represented there will still be a smaller percentage OF the tiny percentage that made it to TV/film.
