Re: BREAKING: South Korea 'On Alert' for Possible North Attack
It is a dangerous logical fallacy, especially in these times, to assume that everything will always unfold just they way it has in the past.
Young Kim is not his father. By many accounts he is even more treacherous and unbalanced. It was reported in several news outlets that he had some top generals executed during the transition for power, including having one general executed by artillery for being caught drunk during the official mourning period. Anyone who could order a person to be executed for a trivial offence by such a gruesome method is not sane by the usual standards. And is thus irrrational and unpredictable.

The report came from Chosun, which doesn't have a reputation for making up shit and fearmongering, so we have to at least consider that the report is credible.

Umm everyone still uses bayonets, seriously I got an expert badge on my Class-A uniform and this was in basic training in 2000.

Bayonets were used as recently as 2004 in Iraq.

This is a VERY revealing video if you know what to look for.

* Soldiers are on an obvious dog and pony show for the media. Notice that heavy automatic weapons ammo canisters only have enough bullets for a very short burst of fire. They are essentially empty.

* Only ONE of the RPG's fire. The others do not fire. Can they fire? Are they rationing these weapons? These are old RPG's with almost no value against modern targets (other than to alert the gunner where you're hiding).

* Note the infantry gear these "Special forces" are wearing. No Web Gear. There are no ammo pouches, canteens, compass and map pouches, cleaning kits, scopes, tents, sleeping bags. NOTHING is being carried. They have NO COMBAT GEAR other than wool uniforms and a gun. I'd be willing to bet half that company doesn't even have a clip of ammo.

* No supporting vehicles are shown. No supply trucks, no small table for the officers to use, no range cards (used to define overlapping fields of fire when a squad digs in), no helmets, nothing.

This could just have well been an American hunting club out for some target practice. Heck, the hunters would be MUCH better equipped than these clowns. I'd be willing to put good money that one of the hundreds of hunting clubs around here could wipe this company of Koreans off the map.

This video reveals to me that the NK army is hanging together by sheer will power. Their ability to project force is non-existent. Any attempt to storm the South would shatter them instantly. Any moderately strong attack from SK will inflict very heavy damage and expose this army for what it is.

I suspect that NK leaders don't fully appreciate this and any provocation by NK will prompt a strong response by SK. This in turn could cause the Army's tenuous hold over the country to snap.

Their tech might be outdated but it doesn't mean they can't dish out punishment. In the Korean war the US/NATO troops were technologically miles ahead the Chinese, and had much more heavy equipment(the Chinese basically had mortars for heavy weaponry), but by using the terrain the Chinese really kicked some ass. Of course war is not exactly the same as it was back then, but history is full of examples on what happens when you rely too much on your technological/material superiority.

South Korea appears to be taking seriously the latest attack threat from North Korea.

Police say they have increased patrols around headquarters of nine conservative media outlets in Seoul after North Korea vowed to soon carry out a "special military action" on them by "unprecedented means and methods."

Been going on for over 50 years since they signed the cease fire. They used to have frequent skirmishes along the DMZ.

DPRK doesn't have the logistics to maintain a war against the South (and the UN)

Most of the military's food comes from foreign aid meant for the people.

Repeat that last statement. Repeat it again.

This is exactly what they are going to do. Attack the parallel with a uranium bomb.

They have NOTHING to lose. To the people it will be an honor.

People who say nothing will happen seem to forget they did attack, under Kim Jung Il. Now its a new leader with their original leader turning 100.

Get ready folks. It's VERY soon.

When you see something has happened in the koreas you know the end is here.

Be prepared and at the end mellow in your own mind. You are the only means to your own enlightenment.
All is divine in your minds eye.

They have dug tunnels under the border and under Seoul, this is a fact, they have found some of them in the past but say there are many more. A nuke in a tunnel under Seoul will be an unusual attack by any standards, think about that.

Yea i don't think NK has the funds to fight a "real war" anymore, i think there only option is to use a nuke on Seoul and soon or else they will sink into decay. I hope for the peoples sake on both sides that, that nuke don't go off.
