Whatever happened to Van Morrison's Movie?
It was supposed to be an expose' on the music industry that he had put together....and it never made it to the theaters.

Now - I can't find anything about it. His new website doesn't say anything about it either.

Anyone know what happened?

I'm sure tptb made it disappear. Van the Man has always stood up for what is true and good. He is something of a curmudgeon at times though.

I've always respected his curmudgeonliness.....his music is the only thing I can bring myself to listen to anymore.

And since he's always been so reticent - I was really looking forward to the movie's release.

I guess I'm wondering if there has been any official explanation.

Thanks for the response! :)

Thanks for posting the vid!!!!hf

His old website got "hacked" and had to get shut down.....it was someone who had hacked into it and had begun posting stories about him and his family...trying to spread rumors, etc....

So it got shutdown. I don't know when the new one got re-started....I only found it when I was trying to see if he ever released his movie.

It was on his original website that I found out about the movie. Then, the site got shut down....the movie was never released.....and I could never find out why.1dunno1

Re: Whatever happened to Van Morrison's Movie?
Jackie Wilson said to keep it under wraps. Then some brown eyed girl named gloria took van for a moon dance and he forgot all about the damn thing.

Last I heard.....

That said, Van is indeed the shit.

Nothing beats the original Them Gloria, but Patti Smith did a pretty snappy cover on her 1975 Horses LP. She loves her some Gloria and did them proud.

The same.

Now let's go over the pond to the Small Faces doing Itchycoo Park live in black and white. Steve Mariott and the lads. The evening's complete.

All good things to you and your great taste in music.

Re: Whatever happened to Van Morrison's Movie?
I think he is staying quiet so the industry does not jump all over his new label. He was rather ticked off before he let his contract expire, but he is making good money right now so why pick the fight today.

Here is an interview from February 27, 09 kind of hints at what was up, he had just made 5 mill + for Astral weeks live at Hollywood bowl.

little more here.

Snip; The film, slated for an early 2010 release, will draw from live performances, interviews, rehearsals and other behind-the-scenes footage, starting with the first Hollywood Bowl shows last fall. The doc features footage shot exclusively during the past year, and Morrison (who’s directing) is looking forward to finally telling his story the way he wants it to be told. “The film shows the real Van Morrison,” explains Darren Doane, the filmmaker who co-directed the Live at the Hollywood Bowl concert film and will be working alongside Morrison for the documentary. “It’s his film. And the film is about exposing and tearing down all the myths about Van Morrison and the music industry as a whole.”

I believe Van himself was responsible for not releasing it I did a full check in to Darren Doane and he does not list it as ever produced.

I'm only human, it's my biggest flaw.

We must all realize a sink a chair and a pillow are all luxuries of home and a soldiers helmet takes the place of all three.
