That's a point. I even know people who didn't know that had HIV and discovered when AIDS had already developed, and they DIDN'T use any drugs.

I hate HIV/AIDS denialists.

They make people die believing their bullshit.

Science is called science because it's verifiable, by lots of interested people everywhere. You cannot have a conspiracy of science, by its very nature.

Nutrition and the immune system have everything thing to do with HIV, that is so true.

But HIV is a cunning thing, it destroys the immune system and depletes the body's ability to nourish it.

Unfortunately, no one has yet managed to fight off HIV without the use of anti-retroviral drugs, except those lucky few that have genetic immunity. This is a fact.

You can prevent HIV infection by practising safe sex (not 100% effective). Never share needles.

If in doubt, user PrEP straight away, and be prepared for this if you can.

Well, nutrition can help your immune system, indeed, but I don't think it is a major factor for preventing HIV infection if all the circumstances for an infection concur.

On the other hand, I read that a HIV person on retrovirals is less likely to infect another person (especially with regard to blood infection).

That's a rare case, BUT it can happen, as you said. I'm sorry about that. I hope discoveries like this will help fight HIV. There are also promising vaccine investigations on the way, currently in clinical testing.

Yes, I guess I was unlucky in that sense. Oh well.

It doesn't bother so much now, It's ok for me, but I'll never tell my family about this. They worry about all their kids anyway, you know how it is. I can't bring this extra worry on them.

God Bless you for posting this. But I think this discovery like others will go nowhere. The reason is twofold,
1. Too much money to be made, and social status/careers to be protected for a "cure" to ever happen.
2. The HIV virus discriminates against and attacks only the undesirables, homo's, blacks and drug users. Hasn't cahnged in any significant way for 30 years. This is a good thing for tptb. Much can be learned for future acts of genocide against specific peoples.

However, I think you're being a tad pessimistic, here, especially in your point number 2. Sure, it has not changed that much, but today we're definitely more tolerant towards infected people and we care more about this issue, in a more human way. I can't deny there are exceptions, though.

At any rate, if we don't fight against HIV and AIDS with vaccines and medicine, we can also "fight" it by avoiding infection, and we're at least more aware about that than a few decades ago (not that people don't make mistakes with that regard, not applying the protective measures they know).
