Pentagon suspends controversial course about Islam

WASHINGTON, April 25 (KUNA) -- The US Department of Defense announced on Wednesday that it suspended a course for military officers containing inflammatory material about Islam.

The Department spokesman Capt. John Kirby said that among problems with the course taught at Norfolk in Virginia was a presentation that asserted the United States is at war with Islam.

Kirby did not specify that this course, "Perspectives on Islam and Islamic Radicalism", contains other problematic provisions.

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Martin Dempsey has further ordered all service branches to review their training to ensure other courses does not include similar inflammatory material about Islam.
