Meds saved my life...
Everyone here is SO against prescription medication (or any medication at all.)

I will admit: perscription meds saved my life.

I am bulimic. I used to throw up literally 3-6 times a day. Every day.
When I would wake up, the first thing I would think about was food. The
Last thing I would think about before going to bed was food. And in between that, guess what I was thinking about. Yea. Food.

I'd have nightmares of binging on food and nOt throwing it up. (causing me to gain weight in the dream)
And then I would wake up from the nightmare and not know if it ACTUALLY happened or not.
I was clinically underweight. I have lost consciousness and gone into shock before. My blood pressure was 85/65. I kid you not.
I felt like a zombie.
Then I found my savior. Adderall.
It actually helped me focus on something other than food, my weight, my looks. I stopped being so self conscious and was actually CONFIDENT for once.
Over a year later and I've not purposely thrown up once (:
Of course it's not as easy as it was in the beginning (my body is used to the meds) but I am grateful nonetheless.
I know that I would be dead had it not been for this drug.

Anyone else feel that a prescription drug has saved their lives?
I know that many here think that they are poison, but I thought that maybe some people could post experiences like me, and show people that not ALL of them are bad.

Most people here have schizophrenia in some form, schizophrenics hate taking their medication.

Thankfully I have the intellect and reason to know I need my fucking medication so I can process the world around me logically, and safely.

You did the right thing. The big part is having a doctor you can trust who won't give you the medication he wants, but what you need.

Some meds do delay things, such as dying, so that's good.

Other meds do cure things, such as an infection, that could kill you if left get out of control.

Toxicity is relevant to dosage; the higher dosage you take, the more toxicity occurs. So it's a balance between the toxic effects of the meds, and the damaging effects of the illness.

Ideally, meds should be taken at doses that limit the toxicity, and only long enough to reverse the illness, if that is possible.

Some illnesses are not reversible, so meds are needed in the long term. However, as meds improve, the toxicity profile is reduced, while maintaining the efficacy.

Of course, all this is the patients' choice. Therefore, well informed opinion on their behalf is vital.

Re: Meds saved my life...
I had a pulmonary embolism in 2008.

Heparin, Lovenox and Warfarin saved my life.

I'm pretty sure spewing up blood, suffocating and turning blue means you're in a lot of trouble. I'm also pretty sure drinking some tea or taking some herbs wouldn't have saved my life.

People can shit all over big pharma all they want, the fact is SOME medications are saving lives and will always be needed.

I tried to give up my meds, I developed DVT again and almost dropped dead. I tried going the natural route, it was an epic fucking failure.

Unfortunately you will have retards here lecturing you about saving your life by popping a pill, they don't care what happens to YOU so long as they can hop on their little soapbox and give others bullshit for it, most likely while gobbling down meds that aren't life saving and pretending they are above everyone else.
And the LORD spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it." Amen.

None actually.

I do take a few meds that I have to take long term... without them, I would be dead now.

If anyone can find an alternative treatment to an illness, be it herbs, diet, exercise, etc., that would be best, and many doctors would agree (except the corrupt ones).

Yet some people do rely on big pharma to stay alive. And that's just an unfortunate truth.

Each person is different, and each illness is different, and everyone needs to make an informed decision.

Just saying.

I appreciate your non-aggressive rebuttal, but many ailments are better managed by: a more focused diet plan; natural supplements; drinking non-fluoridated water, etc. When I took the several classes in pharmacolgy necessary to receive a degree, the professors all explained that all drugs have side effects?

Re: Meds saved my life...
There is a time and a place for everything.

Herbs are great to help us with those little things, so that we don't have to go the doctor.

Along with good food, good mind, good exercise, they keep us well, and help maintain our well being.

The meds are the last call... they come in when we've already missed all the things we should have done. And so yes, big pharma is there, but it's a reflection of how our lives have moved away from nature so much.

We are born into an artificial, profit-driven and fractured world, its ways will make us ill unless we consciously oppose it be living closer to nature. But by the the time we are old enough to think about it, it's too late.

So it's a closed cycle as such.

The machine creates the disease, and it cures it. And dollars all the way. You see the picture.

Nature of course is the solution, but you can't live through the machine, and then come back to nature at the last moment thinking it'll make it all better.

And big pharma is there at the end.
