I just don't understand how a person can call herself a mother and spend that much for a hairstylist when her kids live in a house like that. It floors me. I've given myself my own haircuts for the last 10 years, not saying a mother doesn't deserve a little for herself from time to time, but if my kids were living in a house that wretched I'd be spending the money on a little paint and nicer things for my kids. They don't need that big trampoline, they don't need those toys..they need a mom that cares, a clean house, and for goodness sake plumbing. You can see the sadness in the kid's eyes. Mommy is getting a hair cut, while we are locked in our room. For heaven's sake give me all those kids and I'll care for them all. They might as well be living in a tent in the woods, heck I've taken my kids camping before and they looked happier and cleaner than that.

I'm not defending CPS, because there have been a lot of stories, but those kids need to be taken away from her.

No ideal situation for how they could be cared for - but SHE clearly is not a fit parent.

That isn't even writing on the walls. I was expecting to see crayon drawings but no this was spray paint. I am wondering how old the kids are that were allowed to play with spray paint. All I can say is I hope the stylist is lying about her locking them in a room.

Yes, sadly, it IS "normal" that so many people today are failing in their parental responsibilities, that so many kids are living in terrible conditions, that kids are neglected and mistreated and abused, that so many frigging "adults" are reckless . . . but THIS story is hardly considered "NORMAL".

For people that live and think like that woman it is normal in thier way of thinking, Fuck I don't think it's normal and as a matter of fact I think it's downright disgusting. Not squalor per se, just too many little feet running around the small dwelling. The floors looked clean, suggests most folks reading this thread haven't really seen squalor up close and were in a position to have to clean it up. Thank God, they didn't have pets too.

Easy to complain rather than do something other than say, "it isn't my problem, have some govt agency take care of it, so I can do something else. Not my problem."

I'm shocked by this. Where is TLC? Why haven't they given her a reality TV show with a $100,000 per episode paycheck like they did for Kate Gosselin? Why does Michelle Duggar get a show and Octomom doesn't?
